According to APC Publicity Secretary Yusuf Idris, the alleged plan involves gunmen reportedly hired by unnamed political actors to disrupt the minister’s visit to Gusau and Maradun. Speaking to journalists on Wednesday in Gusau, Idris described the plot as a deliberate attempt to sabotage the event, citing intelligence reports that suggested potential violence along the convoy’s route.
He alleged that armed individuals had been positioned along the Gusau–Maradun road, particularly around Tsafe, with the intent to attack the minister and create chaos. Despite the threat, Idris urged party members to remain calm and law-abiding, warning against carrying weapons during the visit.
“The safety of the minister and the public is paramount,” he said, stressing the importance of allowing security agencies to manage any potential threats. He also called on authorities to take the alleged plot seriously and ensure robust protection measures before, during, and after the visit. Idris added that anyone attempting to incite unrest should be arrested and prosecuted.
The APC confirmed that all necessary arrangements had been made to guarantee a peaceful event, which is expected to draw a large crowd of supporters.
