“Not Wike, Makinde Is Fueling Tension” — PDP Youth Leader Issues Stark Warning Ahead Of Convention
According to Nivo News, a key figure in the Wike-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Timothy Osadolor, has accused Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde of exacerbating tensions within the party ahead of its upcoming national convention in Ibadan, citing Makinde’s alleged 2027 presidential ambitions as a destabilizing factor.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Osadolor, who serves as the PDP’s Deputy National Youth Leader, told reporters that Makinde’s “personal political project” is undermining party unity and warned that proceeding with the convention without addressing existing grievances could further fracture the opposition party.
“How can there be discussions about a presidential candidate from the South West when the very person we are trying to remove is also from that region? Governor Makinde should set aside his presidential ambition and work with other leaders to rebuild the PDP,” Osadolor said.
He dismissed plans for a convention in Ibadan as “laughable and mischievous,” describing it as an early Christmas celebration organized by Makinde and his allies rather than a genuine national convention. He added that reconciliation, in line with the ruling of Justice James Omotosho, must precede any convention, emphasizing that adherence to party rules is essential for credibility with the electorate.
Addressing recent comments by party chieftain Bode George, Osadolor noted that George, as an elder statesman and member of the Board of Trustees, should prioritize reconciliation rather than partisanship. “The house is divided, and as a senior figure, he should not show favoritism,” Osadolor said.
He further warned that failure to address the party’s internal disputes could leave the PDP without effective leadership or force an automatic extension of the National Working Committee led by Abdulrahman Mohammed. Osadolor stressed that the party must exist and remain united before its members can pursue individual political ambitions.
Rejecting claims that Wike is deliberately weakening the PDP to favor President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, Osadolor said the allegations are misplaced. “Is it Wike who organized the early Christmas party in Ibadan? Is it him who suspended party leaders? Wike is not the problem; he is committed to the party’s welfare,” he asserted.
