Speaking on Channels Television’s Rubbin’ Minds on Sunday, DJ Neptune emphasized the potential of Nigeria’s population of over 200 million, stating that understanding their collective power could transform the creative industry.
He explained that even a small fraction of this audience could sustain his career indefinitely. “All DJ Neptune needs to sustain me for the rest of my career is probably just four to five per cent of that population constantly streaming my music and attending my shows. I’m made for life,” he said.
The 35-year-old DJ further stressed the importance of unity and collaboration among creatives, describing it as the “new gold” that could make industry discussions more impactful and profitable.
Reflecting on his journey, DJ Neptune shared his continued passion and ambition. “I’m still as hungry as when I started on the very first day. The goal is to be celebrated as a global DJ from Africa, specifically West Africa, Nigeria,” he added.
According to industry observers, his call for African creatives to embrace ownership of streaming platforms aligns with a growing movement toward self-sufficiency and regional empowerment in the music business.
