According to Nivo News, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the just-concluded Anambra election, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, has rejected the declaration of Prof. Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) as the winner of the poll.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Addressing journalists in Awka on Sunday, Ukachukwu described the election as heavily compromised, alleging that it was fraught with widespread intimidation, violence, and targeted attacks against his supporters.

He lamented that several members of his campaign team were assaulted, with some sustaining injuries and losing valuable property during the exercise. Ukachukwu argued that such conditions rendered the election incapable of reflecting the genuine will of the Anambra electorate.

The APC candidate disclosed that he had commenced consultations with party stakeholders and supporters to determine the next course of action, emphasizing that the process of collating information from agents across polling units was ongoing.

“We thank our team members; they are all gallant soldiers and winners in their own right, including those who were intimidated in various ways. Their cars were burnt, houses destroyed, and my deputy was forced to flee for her safety after being threatened. These people are true winners,” Ukachukwu said.

He further alleged that some of his agents were abducted by political opponents and detained until after the election. He also claimed that money meant for the payment of his agents was wrongfully tagged as “vote-buying funds.”

“They arrested one of my supporters who was to pay our agents, claiming the money was for vote buying. How could I buy votes against a sitting governor who controls the state treasury? The result of the election itself shows who truly engaged in vote buying,” he added.

Ukachukwu also decried the burning of a female supporter’s house in Anambra East, saying her only “crime” was campaigning for the APC.

Despite his grievances, the candidate expressed gratitude for what he described as 99,000 “genuine votes,” insisting that the outcome demonstrated that the APC could no longer be ignored in Anambra politics.

“Those 99,000 people who voted for us are the ones I will consult on our next move. They are the ones who believe Anambra can be better. Even the agents we couldn’t pay because our supporter was kidnapped still stood firm and worked for us,” he concluded.

Factional Crisis Rocks ADC In Akwa Ibom As Party Splits Deepen.

Barely a year after its inauguration in Akwa Ibom State, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has been plunged into a deep factional crisis.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Multiple factions are now locked in a struggle for control of the party, leaving members uncertain about the legitimate leadership structure.

One faction is led by John Akpanudodehe, a former National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), while another is headed by the embattled state chairman, Dick Duke.

Although the leader of a third faction could not be immediately confirmed, findings indicate that another group also exists within the party.

Sources further suggest that the Akpanudodehe-led faction is seeking to remove the current chairman through a recently held congress that has sparked controversy.

In response, Dick Duke convened a stakeholders’ meeting over the weekend, where he rejected the legitimacy of the said congress.

He said the party had formally written to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to distance itself from the exercise, citing a subsisting court order.

According to him, his tenure as state chairman is still valid until May, and any congress conducted before then would be unlawful.

Duke added that the party would only proceed with proper congresses after the expiration of his tenure and the resolution of legal issues, in line with due process.
