US Cancels Over 80,000 Visas In Massive Crackdown, Nigerians Among Affected

According to Nivo News, the United States Department of State has revoked the visas of more than 80,000 individuals, including Nigerians and citizens of several other countries, in a sweeping immigration enforcement initiative under President Donald Trump’s administration.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The department described the action as part of fulfilling Trump’s pledge to strengthen border security and prioritize national safety. Officials emphasized that the revocations were aligned with the administration’s national security strategy, calling the move “promises made, promises kept.”

Data from 2024 shows that the majority of visa cancellations were linked to three primary offenses: driving under the influence (DUI), assault, and theft. Specifically, 16,000 visas were revoked for DUI, 12,000 for assault, and 8,000 for theft. Additional grounds included ties to terrorism, extremist activity, threats to public safety, and violations of visa conditions.

A senior U.S. State Department official, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed that these three offenses accounted for nearly half of all cancellations recorded this year. The revocations form part of a broader immigration overhaul launched during Trump’s tenure, which tightened visa screening processes and expanded background checks, including scrutiny of applicants’ social media activity, political affiliations, and online behavior.

The crackdown coincided with increased deportations and stricter enforcement against visa overstays and infractions. In August alone, over 6,000 student visas were cancelled for reasons ranging from overstaying to academic fraud, with some cases involving terrorism-related concerns.

Additionally, visas of at least six individuals were revoked over social media posts referencing the assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio disclosed in May that hundreds, possibly thousands, of visas had been revoked for actions deemed hostile to American foreign policy interests.

Officials warned that green card and visa holders could face deportation for publicly expressing support for Palestinians or criticizing Israel amid the Gaza conflict, as such statements could be interpreted as sympathizing with Hamas.

Paris Saint-Germain have retained the UEFA Champions League title after a thrilling 4-3 penalty shootout victory over Arsenal. The final, held at the Puskás Aréna in Budapest, Hungary, on May 30, 2026, ended 1-1 after extra time.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The match began with an immediate impact from Arsenal, as Kai Havertz capitalized on a pass from Leandro Trossard to put the London club ahead within the first six minutes. Arsenal maintained their lead for much of the first half, successfully frustrating the French champions.

The momentum shifted in the 63rd minute when a VAR review resulted in a penalty for PSG. Ousmane Dembélé stepped up to the spot and converted two minutes later, bringing the score level at 1-1. Despite intense efforts from both sides during the remainder of regulation and throughout extra time, neither team could find a winning goal.

The title was ultimately decided by penalties. In the shootout, PSG held their nerve, with Lucas Beraldo converting their final spot-kick. With Arsenal needing to score to force sudden death, defender Gabriel Magalhães sent his effort over the bar, sealing a 4-3 victory for the French side.

This triumph marks a historic achievement for PSG, who become the first French club to win the UEFA Champions League title in two consecutive seasons, having defeated Inter Milan 5-0 in the 2025 final. The victory also places head coach Luis Enrique among an elite group of managers to have secured at least three European Cup titles.
