According to Nivo News, Shekarau made this statement during a media briefing held in celebration of his 70th birthday. The veteran politician noted that despite the numerous experiences and challenges he has encountered throughout his life, he remains grateful to God for sustaining him in good health and spirit.
Shekarau explained that his continued involvement in politics does not necessarily mean he is seeking any elective position, stressing that his commitment stems from conviction rather than ambition. “I have always said that politics is part of my religion, and because of this belief, I see no reason or time when I will ever leave the political circle,” he stated.
He further lamented the worsening security challenges across the country, condemning the rate at which innocent citizens are being killed. Shekarau called for urgent action to restore peace, noting that while eradicating crime completely may not be possible, it must be reduced to its lowest level.
On the economy, the former Minister emphasized that any discussion about economic progress that fails to positively impact ordinary Nigerians remains meaningless. He urged President Bola Tinubu to intensify efforts toward safeguarding lives and improving the welfare of the people.
