Political Earthquake In Kano: Barau Receives 1,000 Kwankwasiyya Loyalists Into APC.
According to Nivo News, over 1,000 members of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) and the Kwankwasiyya Movement in Kano State have officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The move was spearheaded by the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, who received the new members at the Fine Time Events Centre in Kano metropolis on Sunday.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The defectors, operating under the banner of Kwankwasiyya One Blood, declared that their decision to abandon the NNPP was inspired by the numerous developmental interventions of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Barau, both within Kano and across the country. In a symbolic gesture, they discarded their trademark red caps—an emblem of the Kwankwasiyya identity—signifying their full departure from the movement.
Leader of the group, Aminu Murtala Minjibir, announced that they would now be known as Barau Maliya One Blood. He lamented that despite years of loyalty and service, the NNPP had failed to meet the expectations of Kano citizens. “We are more than 1,000 in this hall, and we have members across all 44 local government areas of Kano State. Today marks a historic day as we align with the train of progress under the APC. Senator Barau has demonstrated unmatched dedication to the welfare of Kano people,” he stated.
In his remarks, Senator Barau hailed the mass defection as a wise and strategic decision. He described the NNPP as a “small, declining party limited to a few areas in Kano metropolis,” emphasizing that the APC remains the largest and most influential political movement in Africa.
“We are glad to welcome this vibrant group of men and women from the Kwankwasiyya Movement into our great party, the APC. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has consistently supported every initiative aimed at improving lives in Kano and the North at large. With your support and prayers, we shall continue to achieve greater success by God’s grace,” Barau said.
