Mass Exodus In Benue: PDP, ADC, LP Leaders Dump Parties For APC In Mega Defection.
A major political shake-up unfolded on Saturday, November 1, 2025, in Benue State as hundreds of members from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), African Democratic Congress (ADC), and Labour Party (LP) in Vandeikya Local Government Area officially joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to Nivo News, the defection rally, which attracted a large crowd of supporters, was described by party leaders as a “total collapse of opposition” in the area — the home base of Governor Hyacinth Alia.
Speaking during the ceremony, Benue State APC Chairman, Benjamin Omale, declared that the event marked the end of opposition politics in Vandeikya, noting that the mass movement to the APC reflected the people’s confidence in Governor Alia’s leadership.
“With what we are witnessing today, there is no longer any opposition in Vandeikya LGA,” Omale stated. “This is the governor’s home base, and the people have clearly shown where their loyalty lies.”
Leading the defectors were former PDP governorship aspirant, Dominic Akaaha, and former Commissioner for Information, Cletus Akwaya, who teamed up with key members of the ADC and LP to pledge allegiance to the APC.
Omale commended the calibre of political heavyweights switching sides, describing their decision as evidence of the APC’s growing dominance across Benue State. He attributed the surge in defections to the performance of Governor Hyacinth Alia’s administration and the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu, which he said had rekindled trust in the ruling party.
“The massive defection witnessed today is a direct result of Governor Alia’s impressive performance in all sectors,” Omale added. “Vandeikya is now fully sealed for Governor Hyacinth Alia.”
He described the event as historic, noting that many influential sons and daughters of Kunav land had joined the APC in a clear show of faith in the current administration. Omale further hinted that similar defections would soon take place in other local government areas across the state.
“The turnout today shows that the people of Benue are satisfied with the leadership of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Hyacinth Alia,” he said. “We are urging everyone to support them in the next general elections for continued progress and better governance.”
