Speaking to party stakeholders at his Talata Mafara residence on Saturday, Yari declared that despite being out of power in the state, the APC remains the ruling party in Nigeria and is well-positioned for a political comeback.
“Our gathering today is to renew confidence and assure everyone that APC is still strong,” Yari stated. “By 2027, we will return to lead Zamfara State. We cannot continue to be called the opposition.”
The meeting, which drew thousands of loyalists, showcased unity within the Zamfara APC and reaffirmed its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. Among the dignitaries present were the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle; Senator Sahabi Ya’u (Zamfara North); Hon. Abdulmalik Zannan-Bungudu; Hon. Sulaiman Abubakar Gumi; and former deputy governors Ibrahim Wakala, Muktar Ahmed Anka, and Hassan Muhammad Nasiha.
Yari highlighted that although the party lost control of the state in the last election, its national influence and grassroots network remain solid. He emphasized the need for members to stay united and strengthen mobilisation efforts across wards and local governments to prepare for the 2027 polls.
“Zamfara remains an APC state in spirit and structure,” he said. “Our mission now is to rebuild and reclaim the mandate that truly belongs to our people.”
State APC Chairman Umar Tukur Danfulani echoed Yari’s optimism, urging members to remain disciplined and avoid internal divisions. “The task ahead requires teamwork and commitment,” he said, expressing confidence that the APC would soon return to the Government House in Gusau.
The gathering also served as a platform for reaffirming support for President Tinubu’s economic and security reforms. Yari praised the president’s leadership, describing the ongoing policies as necessary steps toward national stability and growth.
“We stand firmly with President Tinubu and the APC-led government,” he said. “These reforms will pave the way for prosperity, and Zamfara will be part of that progress.”
