Wike’s Camp Takes Over PDP Leadership, Damagum Sent To Disciplinary Panel.

According to Nivo News, the latest development follows the earlier suspension of the party’s National Legal Adviser, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, and two other members by the Damagum-led NWC. The fresh round of suspensions has further deepened the division within the opposition party.
Speaking with journalists in Abuja on Saturday, Senator Anyanwu, on behalf of the factional NWC, declared that the National Vice Chairman (North Central), Mohammed Abdulrahman, has been appointed as the Acting National Chairman.
Anyanwu explained that the decision became necessary following what he described as incompetence, financial misconduct, and disregard for court rulings by the affected officials.
“On this note, we have suspended the National Chairman, Ambassador Ilya Damagum, for one month. He is to appear before the Disciplinary Committee,” Anyanwu said. “We also suspended the National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, for issuing unauthorized statements, and the Deputy National Vice Chairman (South), Taofeek Arapaja, has equally been suspended.”
He further revealed that the National Financial Secretary, Daniel Woyenguikoro, the National Youth Leader, Sulaiman Kadade, and the Deputy National Secretary, Setonji Koshoedo, were also suspended for 30 days over alleged financial and administrative misconduct.
Anyanwu emphasized that all suspended members would face the party’s Disciplinary Committee to defend themselves and justify why they should not be expelled. With Abdulrahman now serving as Acting National Chairman, the crisis within the PDP shows no signs of easing as factions continue to wrestle for control ahead of the 2027 general elections.
