Otti Under Fire: Ex-Abia Commissioner Accuses Governor Of Diverting Council Funds.
According to Nivo News, former Abia State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Eze Chikamnayo, has accused Governor Alex Otti of diverting funds meant for local government administration, alleging that his actions have crippled grassroots development across the state.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Speaking during an interview on Arise Television, Chikamnayo claimed that Governor Otti has “mopped up” allocations due to local government councils, leaving them unable to function effectively or execute meaningful projects.
“Unfortunately, in Abia, what we have today is that Alex Otti has mopped up the entire funds going to the local governments. He has ensured that grassroots development is completely grounded, making it impossible for the councils to operate or even breathe,” Chikamnayo alleged.
The former commissioner dismissed speculations of any political feud between the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, and the governor, clarifying that Kalu’s only demand was for transparency and accountability in the management of state funds.
“There is no personal issue between Honourable Benjamin Kalu and Governor Alex Otti. What Kalu, myself, and other members of the Abia community are simply saying is, Governor Otti should practice what he preaches,” he said.
Chikamnayo emphasized that true governance must be measured by results, not rhetoric, urging the governor to justify the huge resources made available to Abia State under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
“What is in the best interest of Abia is transparency and accountability. President Tinubu has done what Napoleon could not do—he has freed resources and empowered the states. Therefore, much more is expected of the governors. You cannot say a governor is performing well based on slogans alone; the available resources must match the actual development on the ground,” he added.
He further stressed that citizens have a right to question their leaders when the level of performance does not align with the funds at their disposal, insisting that accountability should be a national standard.
