Chelsea Star Wesley Fofana Dodges Jail Despite Ninth Driving Offence.
Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana has narrowly avoided a prison sentence after admitting to dangerous driving, marking his ninth offence behind the wheel. The 24-year-old French international was sentenced to 300 hours of unpaid community service and received an additional driving ban following a reckless incident on a Surrey motorway.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Dashcam footage presented at Staines Magistrates’ Court showed Fofana swerving through traffic and using the hard shoulder of the A3 Esher Bypass in Hook at high speed. Prosecutor Rabbi Khan told the court the incident occurred at approximately 4:50 p.m. on April 20 and posed a significant danger to other road users.
“The defendant drove on the hard shoulder in a 50mph zone, approaching a bend without signaling,” Khan said, describing the offence as aggravated due to the high-risk conditions.
Already serving a two-year driving ban for earlier speeding offences, Fofana’s additional 18-month disqualification now extends his time off the road until May 2027. District Judge Julie Cooper condemned his behaviour, emphasizing his responsibility as a role model for young fans.
“You need to be much more responsible about your behaviour,” the judge said, warning that further offences could result in imprisonment and potentially end his career.
Fofana, accompanied by two bodyguards, confirmed his personal details in court but made no other statements. He was ordered to pay £85 in court costs and a £114 victim surcharge. His lawyer, Imogen Cox, acknowledged that Fofana had no excuse for his actions but stated that he had apologized and learned from the incident.
The Chelsea defender, who joined the club from Leicester City in 2022, has struggled with injuries this season, making only two Premier League appearances.
