“Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria. Thousands of Christians are being killed. Radical Islamists are responsible for this mass slaughter. I am hereby making Nigeria a ‘Country of Particular Concern’—but that is the least of it,” Trump stated. He directed Congressman Riley Moore, Chairman Tom Cole, and the House Appropriations Committee to immediately investigate the situation and report their findings to him.
Trump further warned that the United States “cannot stand by while such atrocities are happening in Nigeria and numerous other countries,” stressing that his administration is “ready, willing, and able to save our great Christian population around the world.”
The declaration places Nigeria under heightened international scrutiny, signaling that Washington views the issue as severe enough to warrant both public condemnation and potential diplomatic or economic measures.

The Zamfara State Government has restated its refusal to engage in negotiations with bandits, saying it will intensify efforts and adopt new measures to address insecurity across the state.
Deputy Governor Mani Mumuni Masamar Mudi made the position known during a condolence visit to Bunkasau village in Bukkuyum Local Government Area after a recent deadly attack.
He expressed sadness over the incident, which left about 26 people dead and several others injured, while praising residents for resisting the attackers.
Mudi conveyed the government’s condolences to affected families and prayed for the repose of the dead and recovery of the injured.
The Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Bilyaminu Ismail Moriki, commended the community’s resistance and said lawmakers may consider legislation to support lawful self-defence measures.
Community leaders, while appreciating the visit, called for stronger government support to enhance local security.
Officials on the delegation included the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ahmad Garba Yandi, and the Special Adviser on Security Matters, Mannir Fura Girke.
