According to Nivo News, the large-scale redeployment is part of the reorganization efforts following the appointment of Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu as the new Chief of Army Staff (COAS).
In a circular issued by the Military Secretary (Army), E.L. Okoro, and dated October 30, 2025, the affected officers were directed to assume their new postings effective November 3, 2025.
The memo emphasized strict compliance, directing commanders of all formations and units to ensure immediate implementation of the directive. It further warned that any officer who fails to report at the stipulated time would face disciplinary action, while commanding officers who delay releases would also be sanctioned.
Four Major Generals, however, were retained in their current positions but assigned new responsibilities. The officers include Major General P.A.O. Okoye, Major General Y. Yahaya, Major General I. Otu, and Major General S. Nuhu.
The directive, as seen by Nivo News, cautioned commanders against administrative lapses during the transition and mandated formations to notify the Military Secretary’s office upon the assumption of duty by the redeployed officers.
The comprehensive list of the officers affected by the redeployment includes T.T. Sidick, B.A. Alabi, O.T. Olatoye, O.G. Onubogu, J.H. Abdussalam, S.T. Shafaru, A.G. Ibrahim, P.P. Malla, W.B. Idris, S.S. Jiya, and several others.
The shake-up is believed to signal a renewed operational strategy under the leadership of General Shaibu as the Nigerian Army continues its internal restructuring and efforts to strengthen national security operations.
