Sixteen Soldiers Arrested As DHQ Uncovers Plot To Overthrow Presidency

Published

on

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ), led by former Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa and Chief of Defence Intelligence Major General Emmanuel Undiandeye, has reportedly thwarted what insiders have described as one of the most audacious coup attempts in Nigeria’s modern history.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to Nivo News, intelligence operatives uncovered a secret plot weeks ago involving plans to assassinate top figures in the Presidency, principal officers of the National Assembly, leading security chiefs, and the National Security Adviser. Sources revealed that the operation was meticulously designed, with the intent not just to seize power but to dismantle the country’s leadership structure entirely.

A senior intelligence official disclosed that the DHQ’s internal counterintelligence network singlehandedly exposed the plot without assistance from any other security agency. Investigations further revealed that the conspirators had procured vehicles, tactical gear, and disguise equipment to enable rapid movement and covert access to sensitive government zones during the planned assault.

Forensic analysts are reportedly tracing billions of naira in transactions linked to influential political financiers suspected of sponsoring the attempted takeover. Civilian collaborators are also under investigation.

At least sixteen military officers have so far been detained in connection with the coup attempt. While authorities initially dismissed early reports as false, new intelligence has since confirmed that a well-coordinated conspiracy was indeed uncovered.

Military insiders described the arrested officers as disgruntled personnel who had repeatedly failed promotion examinations or experienced prolonged stagnation in their careers. “Their frustrations were exploited and weaponised,” one source revealed, noting that they were deceived into believing they were fighting for reform, when in reality, they were being used for a deeper political agenda.

Security analysts pointed out that the plotters came from diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds, a rare occurrence that underscores the complexity of the conspiracy. “This alliance defied Nigeria’s usual fault lines — it was an unholy union driven by ambition and manipulation,” one analyst observed.

Experts have since commended the Defence Headquarters for its swift and discreet intervention, urging the government to address the underlying discontent among personnel to forestall future threats to national stability.
