Military Uncovers ₦45bn Trail In Alleged Plot To Topple Tinubu’s Government.
Fresh revelations have emerged regarding the alleged coup plot against President Bola Tinubu’s government, as military investigators reportedly uncovered a financial trail linking ₦45 billion from the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to several politically exposed persons and some detained soldiers.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to findings obtained by Nivo News, the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) has intensified its probe into the alleged conspiracy by interrogating top NDDC executives over the origin, beneficiaries, and disbursement of the funds, a development that has created tension within the interventionist agency.
Earlier reports had suggested that 16 Nigerian Army officers were being detained in connection with a supposed plan to overthrow the government, a situation believed to have influenced the cancellation of the country’s 65th Independence Day parade. However, the Defence Headquarters dismissed the claims, stating that the affected officers were being held for professional misconduct unrelated to any coup attempt.
Despite the official rebuttal, multiple reports indicated that security operatives recently raided the Abuja residence of former Bayelsa State governor and ex-Minister of State for Petroleum, Timipre Sylva, as part of ongoing investigations.
Investigators are said to be tracing a series of multi-billion-naira transactions involving politically connected figures, including a ₦45 billion shoreline protection project awarded in the South-South region. Intelligence sources revealed that a portion of the funds allegedly found its way into the accounts of some detained military officers.
A senior security source disclosed that the questioning of NDDC officials forms “part of a wider intelligence-led operation into the movement of public funds.”
Reports suggest growing panic within the NDDC headquarters as senior officials fear that the investigation could expand further. Insiders revealed that the atmosphere has been tense since the interrogation began, with several directors adopting a cautious approach in their activities and communications.
Officials with close administrative ties to those already questioned are said to be particularly anxious, while staff members expressed concern that more high-ranking figures could soon be implicated.
When contacted, NDDC spokesperson Seledi Thompson-Wakama reportedly declined to comment on the ongoing investigation.
