Reps Demand Answers From NFF On Alleged Fraud, Fake Stadium Project.
The House of Representatives has commenced an investigation into the financial operations of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) from 2015 to date, amid growing concerns over the alleged misuse of FIFA and CAF development grants. The move, according to Nivo News, is aimed at ensuring transparency, accountability, and restoring both national and international confidence in the administration of Nigerian football.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The decision followed the adoption of a motion of urgent public importance sponsored by Dr. Adedayo Samuel Adesola (APC, Lagos) and Hon. Nwaeke Felix Uche (PDP, Rivers). The lawmakers directed the NFF leadership to appear before the House Committee on Sports with comprehensive records detailing all activities, receipts, and disbursements of funds within the period under review.
While leading the debate, Adesola referenced the recent outcry by former Super Eagles captain, Sunday Oliseh, who accused the NFF of crippling football development in Nigeria through the alleged mismanagement of grants from FIFA and CAF. He particularly cited the questionable handling of a $1 million grant from FIFA meant to prepare the Super Eagles for the 2002 World Cup.
According to Adesola, the NFF is believed to have received over $25 million in development funds between 2015 and 2025, with little or no tangible impact visible to justify the huge inflows. He recalled that in December 2016, FIFA issued an audit query to the NFF over the mismanagement of a $1.1 million development grant, noting that $802,000 lacked proper documentation. This prompted the then Sports Minister, Solomon Dalung, to order an independent audit to account for all receipts and expenditures.
Adesola further noted that between 2018 and 2019, several NFF officials, including former President Amaju Pinnick, were subjects of investigations by the EFCC and ICPC over alleged financial misappropriation. One of the controversial funds, he said, involved $1.2 million reportedly used for the construction of the Birnin Kebbi Stadium.
However, a physical inspection of the facility allegedly revealed a substandard project that fell short of international standards, raising questions about how the funds were utilized. He compared the case with Kenya, which used a similar amount to build a standard and well-equipped stadium, further intensifying doubts over the NFF’s financial prudence.
Adesola stressed that with the Africa Cup of Nations and the World Cup qualifiers approaching, urgent steps must be taken to curb the continuous mismanagement of funds and safeguard the integrity of Nigerian football.

Atiku Opens Up On ADC 2027 Game Plan, Says Consensus Candidate Comes First.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will first pursue a consensus arrangement before considering a primary election for its 2027 presidential ticket.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Atiku made this known during an interview on Arise Television on Wednesday while discussing the party’s leadership and strategy ahead of the next general election.
He said he is open to backing a consensus candidate if that becomes the party’s collective decision, stressing that such support should not be interpreted as stepping aside.
“It is not about stepping aside, but whether I am willing to support, and yes, I will,” Atiku said.
According to him, the ADC’s first priority is to build internal unity and reach an agreement among stakeholders before considering a competitive primary process.
“Our first option will be to work out a consensus. If that doesn’t happen, then of course we will explore other options. And yes, I will support whoever eventually emerges,” he stated.
Atiku also expressed confidence in the political experience within the party, saying he believes a consensus is achievable and may make a full-scale primary contest unnecessary.
“That remains our preferred path. We will go for primaries if consensus fails, but I honestly do not expect it to get to that stage because we are dealing with mature and experienced politicians,” he added.
His comments come amid growing political consultations and coalition talks as parties begin to position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
