Zamfara PDP Exodus: 15 Former Leaders Join APC Ahead Of 2027 Elections.

At least 15 former officers of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Zamfara State have officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), pledging their loyalty to the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Among the defectors were notable figures including former PDP Youth Leader Sahad Dabo, ex-Treasurer Nasiru Anka, former Organising Secretaries Janaidu Magaji Kiyawa and Musa Halilu Faru, former Zonal Organising Secretary Lawali Aliyu, and ex officio members Hajiya Rabi Bakura and Hajiya Amina Duniya. Other defectors included Bashar Mohammed Dogon Kade, a former PDP aspirant for Kaura Namoda South constituency, and Rilwanu Bello, a former councillorship aspirant.

Isiyaka M. Dabo, who formally handed over his PDP membership card, explained his defection by stating that the PDP “favours the rich,” adding that he was inspired by the leadership of Senator Yari and Governor Matawalle to join what he described as the “winning party.”

Amina Duniya, who spent 25 years in the PDP, expressed optimism about the APC’s leadership, urging party leaders to maintain fairness and promising to mobilise more supporters to the party.

The defectors were officially received in Abuja by the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, alongside Zamfara APC Chairman Hon. Tukur Umar Danfulani, Senator Tijjani Yahaya, and Hon. Lawal M. Liman.

Welcoming the newcomers, Matawalle described the move as timely and strategic, noting that the APC continues to enjoy strong support in Zamfara and nationwide. He emphasized that the party’s unity and welfare initiatives remain central to its success.

APC state chairman Tukur Umar Danfulani assured the defectors of smooth integration into the party and dismissed claims of internal divisions. He highlighted the party’s recent by-election victory and the high-profile defections as evidence of APC’s growing strength, stating that the party is poised to reclaim Zamfara in the 2027 elections.

He also approved an amendment extending the lifespan of the 2025 budget from March 31 to June 30, 2026, to ensure completion of ongoing capital projects nationwide.

Under the 2026 fiscal plan, ₦4.799 trillion is set aside for statutory transfers, ₦15.8 trillion for debt servicing, ₦15.4 trillion for recurrent spending, while ₦32.2 trillion goes to capital projects—about half of the total budget.

The focus, according to the administration, is on infrastructure development, security, and growth-driven investments aimed at improving living standards.
