Chiamaka Nnadozie Makes History With IFFHS World Best Goalkeeper Nomination.
Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has earned a nomination for the 2025 International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) Women’s World Best Goalkeeper award, ranking her among the top ten goalkeepers globally.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The 24-year-old Brighton & Hove Albion star is the sole African representative on the list, facing competition from some of the biggest names in women’s football, including Germany’s Ann-Katrin Berger (Gotham FC), Spain’s Cata Coll (Barcelona), England’s Hannah Hampton (Chelsea), and Chile’s Christiane Endler (Lyon). Other nominees include Daphne van Domselaar (Netherlands/Arsenal), Katharine Tapia (Colombia/Palmeiras), Lorena Leite (Brazil/Kansas City Current), Phallon Tullis-Joyce (USA/Manchester United), and Jennifer Falk (Sweden/Häcken).
Founded in 1987, the IFFHS awards celebrate exceptional performances in football each year. Winners are determined by journalists and analysts from more than 120 countries. The 2025 winners will be announced in December, alongside official rankings for goalkeepers, players, referees, and coaches.
The nomination crowns a remarkable year for Nnadozie, who has been a standout performer in the Women’s Super League since joining Brighton. Known for her sharp reflexes and commanding presence, she was recently nominated for the Barclays WSL Save of the Month award for October after a brilliant stop against Tottenham midfielder Eveliina Summanen’s free-kick.
Her stellar performances extend to the international arena. Nnadozie was named Best Goalkeeper at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, playing a pivotal role in Nigeria’s strong campaign. In September, she became the first Nigerian and African goalkeeper to be nominated for the Women’s Yachine Trophy, finishing fourth, and she remains a strong contender for the CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award, a title she is expected to claim for the third consecutive time.
If victorious, Nnadozie would make history as the first African woman ever to be crowned IFFHS Women’s World Best Goalkeeper.
