Tension In PDP As Lamido Cries Foul Over Denied Chairmanship Form.
According to Nivo News, former Governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido, has expressed deep frustration after being denied the opportunity to purchase the nomination form to contest for the position of National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Lamido, a founding member of the PDP, had earlier announced through his verified Facebook page his intention to vie for the party’s top leadership seat. He emphasized that his ambition stemmed from a firm commitment to strengthening internal democracy and restoring the PDP to its former glory as a formidable opposition force in Nigeria.
He explained that his desire to contest was motivated by the need to reposition the party ahead of future general elections. However, reports indicate that Lamido was unable to obtain the form at the PDP National Headquarters on Monday.
While addressing journalists, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed his readiness to participate in the upcoming National Convention scheduled for November 15 and 16 in Ibadan, Oyo State. He also hinted at taking legal action should the party continue to deny him access to the form.
It would be recalled that PDP governors recently endorsed former Minister of Special Duties, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, as their preferred candidate for the chairmanship position. Before the endorsement, Lamido, Turaki, and former Governors Ibrahim Shekarau of Kano and Ahmed Makarfi of Kaduna had all shown interest in leading the party.

It was gathered that the President held a meeting with Senate leadership on Wednesday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, described by lawmakers as an “emergency and strategic” session.
The delegation, led by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, arrived shortly after the Senate adjourned plenary following a closed-door executive meeting.
While presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga confirmed that the meeting took place, he did not provide details. However, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele disclosed that “far-reaching decisions” were reached, noting that discussions focused on pressing national issues.
According to sources familiar with the meeting, the lawmakers used the opportunity to seek assurances that incumbent senators would secure party tickets without facing internal primaries.
A source within the National Assembly revealed that the senators argued for continuity and stability in pushing for automatic tickets, but the President remained firm in his position.
Tinubu was said to have rejected the proposal, reiterating that governors, as party leaders in their respective states, must retain significant influence over who emerges as candidates.

Justice James Omotosho announced the date when the case was heard on Thursday, April 23, 2026.
Mamman is currently being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a 12-count charge related to an alleged conspiracy to launder ₦33,804,830,503.73.
During the proceedings, defence counsel, Femi Atteh (SAN), informed the court that he submitted his final written address on April 1, 2026, along with a reply to the prosecution’s filing. He added that the defence is relying on its submissions in urging the court to discharge and acquit the former minister.
In response, prosecution counsel, Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN), told the court that the prosecution filed its final written address on April 14, 2026, and called for Mamman’s conviction on all 12 counts.
He argued that evidence presented showed funds were transferred from a government account to a Bureau de Change (BDC), whose operator testified to receiving the money and delivering it to the defendant. He also cited testimony from an aide who claimed to have collected some of the funds on Mamman’s instructions, insisting that the evidence before the court clearly established the case.
Following arguments from both sides, Justice Omotosho adjourned the matter until June 9, 2026, for judgment.

He made the statement on Thursday while hosting a delegation that included chieftains of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and Peter Obi, along with other stakeholders from the South-East, in Bauchi State.
Mohammed said the engagement centered on political realignment and possible cooperation ahead of future elections, adding that he maintains no rigid attachment to any political platform at the moment.
He further noted that details of their discussions would not be made public for now.
“Neither PDP nor ADC is standing alone. I am a freelance politician now, and my party is also in limbo. We are looking up to the judiciary,” he said.
“We are all in the opposition, and this is a political discussion. We will not disclose everything we have discussed in terms of the details we have agreed on.
“We cannot operate without a platform. At the end of the day, the current political situation may even help unify us and improve our chances of winning elections.”
The governor also said Peter Obi’s visit reflected ongoing efforts to strengthen unity and build political bridges across regions.
He added that Obi’s message centered on national unity and a better future for Nigeria, describing the visit as significant and honourable for the state.
