Tears In Gombe: Commissioner, Aide Killed Returning From Official Duty.
According to Nivo News, the Gombe State Government has announced the passing of its Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Col. Abdullahi Bello (rtd), who lost his life in a fatal road accident on Friday.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Reports indicate that the tragic incident occurred along the Malam Sidi–Gombe road while the retired military officer was returning from Maiduguri, Borno State, where he had attended the North-East Regional Consultation on the Development of a National Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration (DDR) programme.
The governor’s media aide, Isma’ila Uba Misilli, confirmed that Bello’s police orderly, Sergeant Adamu Hussaini, also died in the crash, while the driver sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving medical care.
Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya expressed deep sorrow over the commissioner’s death, describing him as a disciplined officer, loyal public servant, and a man who dedicated his life to ensuring the safety and stability of Gombe State.
“Col. Abdullahi Bello (rtd) will always be remembered for his courage, integrity, and unwavering commitment to duty. His contribution to the state’s security architecture was immense, and his death is a great loss not only to his family but to Gombe State and Nigeria as a whole,” Yahaya stated.
He also commended the late commissioner’s pivotal role in developing effective security policies and strengthening cooperation among law enforcement agencies, adding that his leadership helped maintain Gombe’s reputation as one of the most peaceful states in the North-East.
The governor extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and prayed for the repose of their souls, asking Almighty Allah to grant them eternal rest and comfort their loved ones. He further wished the injured driver a speedy recovery.
The state government noted that details regarding the burial arrangements of the late commissioner would be announced in due course.
