Wike Declares: I’ll Testify In Nnamdi Kanu’s Trial If Court Summons Me.
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared his readiness to testify in the ongoing trial of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, if he is officially summoned by the court.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to Nivo News, Wike made this statement on Friday during his monthly media chat in Abuja while responding to questions about his inclusion on the list of witnesses presented by Kanu’s legal team.
Kanu had, in a motion filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja earlier in the week, informed the court of his intention to begin his defence on October 24, 2025. The IPOB leader reportedly listed 23 witnesses, including Wike, former Minister of Defence, General Theophilus Danjuma (retd), and former Chief of Army Staff, General Tukur Buratai (retd).
Reacting to the development, Wike clarified that he neither volunteered to testify nor had he been contacted by the court or Kanu’s lawyers. He stressed that his appearance would only occur if he is officially subpoenaed.
“If you see Nnamdi Kanu, ask him why he listed me. I did not tell him I wanted to be a witness. Nobody has served me any court process or subpoena,” the minister said.
He further explained that being mentioned in a court document does not automatically make one a witness, adding that he would comply with any lawful summons should the court formally request his presence.
Wike concluded by saying he would not panic over media reports, emphasizing that due process must be followed in such judicial matters.
