The Federal Government has unveiled plans to train over 960,000 Nigerian youths in various technical and vocational fields as part of its ongoing Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) initiative.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to Nivo News, the programme, managed by the Ministry of Education, is aimed at equipping young Nigerians with employable skills that would empower them to become self-reliant and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s economy. The ministry explained that every participant underwent a thorough verification process using their National Identification Number (NIN) and Bank Verification Number (BVN) to ensure transparency and eliminate fraud.

Education Minister, Dr. Tunji Alausa, disclosed this during an inspection visit to several partner training centres in Abuja, including AFS Vocational Hub in Garki and Golden Finger Farms and Ranches Limited along the Kubwa-Zuba Expressway. He described the initiative as a strong reflection of political will and commitment to youth empowerment, noting that over 250,000 participants are already receiving hands-on training across 2,600 centres nationwide.

Alausa said the programme is structured around 28 key skill areas such as fashion and garment making, livestock production, plumbing, tiling, GSM repair, and modern farming. He added that the training model is designed to be 90 per cent practical and 10 per cent theoretical, with curriculums tailored to meet real market needs.

He explained that the overwhelming interest in the initiative led to over 1.3 million applications within just 10 days of opening the registration portal, out of which 960,000 were successfully verified.

Highlighting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to youth development, Alausa said the programme is in line with the administration’s Renewed Hope agenda, which prioritises skills development and job creation. He emphasized that participants will not only acquire technical knowledge but also receive starter packs and financial support to launch their own ventures.

The minister noted that the training duration varies—six months for basic skills centres, one year for vocational enterprise institutes, and up to three years in federal and state technical colleges. He reaffirmed that the TVET programme is currently active in all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Alausa concluded that the initiative represents a new era of practical learning and empowerment, ensuring that Nigeria’s youths transition from job seekers to job creators.

reports that Nwosu made the comments during an interview with Punch, where he explained the background to several decisions taken within the party over time.

According to him, the decision was influenced by past experiences involving internal challenges that affected party stability.

Nwosu also confirmed that Dumebi Kachikwu was expelled during a party convention, adding that the party later moved on to support the Labour Party presidential candidate during the general election.

He accused Kachikwu of playing a destabilising role within the party, describing his actions as destructive and harmful to its unity.

The ADC founder insisted that Kachikwu is no longer a member of the party, saying his claim to still represent the party was no longer valid following his expulsion.

He also criticised Kachikwu for continuing to publicly present himself as a presidential candidate of the ADC, stating that such a position had already expired.

Nwosu further alleged that ongoing tensions within the party are being influenced by a mix of internal actors and external interests, which he said has distorted the true nature of the dispute.

He added that individuals linked to the crisis have become entangled in broader political narratives, insisting that the situation is being exaggerated in the public space.
