Osinbajo’s Ex-Aide Warns Politicians: Don’t Use Coup To Fight Tinubu.
A former media aide to ex-Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Laolu Akande, has cautioned politicians against resorting to a military coup as a means of expressing dissatisfaction with President Bola Tinubu’s administration.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
During an interview monitored by Nivo News on Thursday, Akande advised aggrieved politicians to channel their grievances through democratic processes rather than supporting unconstitutional actions.
His remarks followed reports that several senior military officers, including a brigadier general, had been detained over an alleged attempted coup against the Tinubu-led government.
Akande noted that while different reports gave varying figures — with some sources claiming 16 and others 20 officers — such developments were highly unusual. He, however, commended military intelligence for swiftly uncovering and preventing the alleged plot.
“If it is true that there was indeed an attempt to overthrow the government, then the military deserves commendation for acting decisively,” Akande said. “But more importantly, politicians and citizens must reject the idea of using coups to settle political differences.”
He emphasized that disagreements with Tinubu’s policies should be addressed through the ballot box. “If you don’t like what the president is doing, don’t call for a coup. Go to the polls and vote him out. That’s the proper and democratic way to effect change,” he stressed.
Akande urged Nigerians to unite in speaking against any form of military interference in governance, insisting that the nation’s democracy must be protected from anti-democratic elements.
