Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has revealed that he convened a players-only meeting following their 2-1 defeat to Manchester United at Anfield, but clarified that it was not a “crisis” session.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to Nivo News, the disappointing loss marked Liverpool’s fourth consecutive defeat, leaving them joint third in the Premier League table and four points adrift of leaders Arsenal.

Van Dijk admitted that the atmosphere at the club’s Kirkby training complex was “low” on Monday, but said the gathering was a chance for players to express themselves and refocus. “On Monday, everyone was sad because we lost to United at home. We haven’t lost many home games during my time here,” he stated. “It was tough, so we came together, but it wasn’t a crisis meeting. We all know how quickly things can change — we’re only in October.”

The Dutch defender added that, in addition to a debrief with manager Arne Slot, the players held their own meeting to speak frankly about recent performances. “I wanted to say some things. It’s not something I do after every game — let’s keep it that way,” he remarked.

Liverpool bounced back on Wednesday with an emphatic 5-1 victory over German side Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Champions League, ending their losing streak. Goals from Hugo Ekitike, Van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Cody Gakpo sealed their first win in a month, even as Mohamed Salah was left out of the starting line-up.

Van Dijk, reflecting after the match, emphasized unity and focus as key to overcoming difficult periods. “The only way to get out of a situation like that is to stay together, keep your mind on the task ahead, and keep believing. It’s easier said than done, but if you want to come out of it, you have to do it,” he said. “Before my meeting, yes, the mood was low — but after my meeting, everyone was happy.”

However, Liverpool’s triumph was dampened by injuries to defender Jeremie Frimpong and striker Alexander Isak. Frimpong suffered a hamstring injury in the first half, while Isak was taken off at half-time with a groin issue.

The Reds will next face Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday at 20:00 BST.

He warned against dragging the state into fresh tension, accusing the state government of attempting to revive old allegations for political advantage.

Adewara said the PDP would not remain silent while what he called “political narratives” are used to influence public perception around a tragic incident that claimed multiple lives in Offa in 2018.
