Nnamdi Kanu Sets To Open Defence, Summons Wike, Buratai, Uzodinma As Witnesses.
The detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has officially notified the Federal High Court of his readiness to open his defence in the ongoing treasonable felony case against him.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to Nivo News, Kanu, through a fresh motion filed before the court, confirmed that he is prepared to commence his defence as earlier directed by the presiding judge. This development comes shortly after activist Omoyele Sowore led a protest in Abuja calling for Kanu’s release.
In the motion dated October 21, 2025, Kanu referenced the court’s order issued on October 16, which mandated him to begin his defence on October 24. The IPOB leader, who had earlier challenged the court’s jurisdiction, submitted the new application after a panel of medical experts declared him fit to stand trial.
“Pursuant to the order of this honourable court made on the 16th day of October 2025, directing the defendant to commence his defence on the 24th day of October 2025, I am ready to do so,” Kanu stated in the motion personally signed by him.
In his filing, Kanu disclosed plans to call 23 witnesses divided into two categories — ordinary but material witnesses, and vital, compellable witnesses. Among the high-profile figures listed as compellable are former Minister of Defence Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (retd), former Chief of Army Staff Gen. Tukur Buratai (retd), Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike, Minister of Works Dave Umahi, and former Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.
Others include the immediate past Attorney General of the Federation Abubakar Malami (SAN), former Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency Ahmed Rufai Abubakar, and the current Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Yusuf Magaji Bichi.
Kanu also urged the court to grant him 90 days to conclude his defence, citing the number of witnesses and the complexity of evidence to be presented. He expressed his intention to personally testify, pledging to deny all allegations and provide clarity on the political context of his statements and actions.
“I shall testify on my own behalf, providing a sworn account of the facts, denying the allegations, and explaining the political context of my statements and actions,” he stated.
Kanu further assured that his witnesses would submit sworn statements and that his legal team would ensure the trial proceeds without unnecessary delay, emphasizing that “justice must not only be done but be seen to have been done.”
Meanwhile, the same day Kanu filed his motion, a Magistrate Court in Abuja ordered the remand of 13 persons, including his special counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, who were arrested during a protest demanding his release. The group, which also included Kanu’s brother, Emmanuel Kanu, was arraigned for criminal conspiracy, disobedience to lawful order, inciting disturbance, and public nuisance, contrary to the Penal Code.
The defendants were ordered to be remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre pending their arraignment on October 24.
Observers note that the latest developments mark a critical turn in Kanu’s prolonged legal battle, which continues to draw national and international attention amid ongoing debates over human rights and judicial fairness in Nigeria.

“We Will Rig You!”: Peter Obi Issues Explosive Warning To INEC Over Alleged Election Manipulation!.
During a recent visit to Washington, D.C., Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), argued that the prevalence of election rigging in Nigeria is largely due to voters failing to actively defend their ballots. Obi emphasized that while candidates play a role in the process, credible outcomes ultimately depend on citizens remaining at their polling units to ensure votes are counted transparently. He criticized the “transactional” nature of Nigerian politics, suggesting that many voters prioritize other activities over the essential task of monitoring the electoral process. According to Obi, Nigeria’s primary challenge is poor political leadership, and he urged citizens to take collective ownership of their votes to demand the accountable governance required for the country to succeed.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has called for increased citizen involvement in protecting electoral integrity. During a recent trip to Washington, D.C., Obi stated that election manipulation persists because voters frequently leave polling stations before the counting process is completed. He argued that:

Voters must proactively defend their ballots at polling units to ensure transparency and prevent rigging.
-
Nigeria’s fundamental obstacle is a crisis of political leadership, rather than a lack of natural or human resources.
-
Real change requires Nigerians to move beyond passive participation and take active responsibility for the electoral process.
