Shock in Benue: PDP’s Last Man Standing Joins Ruling APC.
According to Nivo News, political realignments took a new turn on Tuesday as Hon. Ojema Ojotu, the only Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member of the House of Representatives from Benue State, officially defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Ojotu’s defection was formally announced during plenary by the Deputy Speaker of the House, Benjamin Kalu, through a letter in which the lawmaker cited the lingering internal crisis within the PDP as the major reason for his departure. He noted that the unresolved disputes at various levels of the party had hindered his ability to effectively represent his constituents.
The development, witnessed by Benue State Deputy Governor, Samuel Ode, leaves Senator Abba Moro, the Senate Minority Whip, as the only remaining PDP federal lawmaker from the state.
Ojotu explained that he had tendered his resignation from the PDP on October 8, stressing that the persistent internal conflicts and leadership tussles in the party had made it difficult to fulfill his legislative duties.
Meanwhile, Minority Whip of the House, Hon. Aliyu Sani Madaki, urged the Presiding Officer to declare Ojotu’s seat vacant, invoking Section 68(1g) of the 1999 Constitution, which stipulates that a lawmaker’s seat may be vacated if they defect from the party under which they were elected, except in cases of party division.

NJC Takes Disciplinary Action Against Judges, Suspends Some And Blocks Others’ Promotion.
The National Judicial Council (NJC) has suspended three judicial officers for one year without pay over various allegations of misconduct and violations of judicial procedures.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The council also issued warnings and cautions to several other judges over offences including unlawful detention of litigants, abuse of judicial authority, failure to follow due process and improper handling of court cases.
The decisions were reached at the NJC’s 112th meeting, held on November 3, 2026, under the chairmanship of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun.
The three suspended officers are Justice Hannatu Mohammed Kabir of the Nasarawa State High Court, Grand Kadi Mohammed Sani Salihu of the Jigawa State Sharia Court of Appeal and Justice Sobere Biambo of the Rivers State High Court.
Justice Kabir was sanctioned for ordering the arrest and detention of a litigant for 58 days over alleged disobedience to a court order without following the prescribed contempt procedures.
The investigation established that she failed to serve the litigant with the mandatory Forms 48 and 49 before ordering the detention. The NJC held that her actions violated the litigant’s right to a fair hearing.
In addition to her one-year suspension without pay, the council barred her from consideration for promotion or elevation for three years.
Grand Kadi Salihu was suspended over his involvement in reopening a judgment previously delivered by the FCT Upper Area Court.
The council found that he exceeded his authority by setting up a committee to review the earlier judgment. He subsequently transferred the matter to another judge, who received fresh evidence and delivered a different judgment.
The NJC considered the process an attempt to appeal against an existing judgment delivered by a court with the authority to determine the matter.
Justice Biambo was also suspended for ordering the arrest of litigants and imposing a fine of ₦300,000 on each of them in connection with a civil dispute.
The council found that he took the action without observing the required contempt proceedings or serving the necessary legal documents.
Like Grand Kadi Salihu, Justice Biambo was also barred from consideration for elevation for three years.
Meanwhile, the NJC issued a warning to Justice Kayode Agunloye of the FCT High Court over his handling of garnishee proceedings in a case involving First Bank of Nigeria Plc.
The council faulted him for granting another ex parte application for a Garnishee Order Nisi after an earlier application on the same issue had been withdrawn and struck out.
It also found that he proceeded with the application while other matters, including a request for a stay of execution, were still awaiting determination.
In another disciplinary decision, the NJC approved warnings and cautions for other judicial officers over their handling of court cases.
Justice Bello Kawu was among those sanctioned for granting interim bail to former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, despite an existing remand order issued by another judge.
Justices Danjuma Oyigbenu and Isa Ebini Kana also received warning letters for delivering judgments in an appeal after the 90-day period prescribed by the Constitution.
Other judges who received cautions or were placed on the council’s Watch List include Justice Mohammed Zubairu of the FCT High Court.
He was faulted for issuing court orders after being informed that an appeal had already been entered at the Court of Appeal.
Justice C. A. Ogbuagor of the Enugu State High Court was also cautioned for continuing proceedings in a case despite a pending appeal and an application for a stay of execution.
Similarly, Justice Chibuike Azuama of the Imo State High Court was sanctioned for granting an ex parte garnishee order that froze the bank accounts of Puma Energy, even though the company was not a party to the main case.

Tinubu Returns To Abuja After Saudi Visit Amid Key National Issues.
President Bola Tinubu has returned to Abuja after completing his visit to Saudi Arabia, where he performed the Umrah pilgrimage in the holy city of Makkah.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The President’s aircraft touched down in Abuja at approximately 8:53 p.m. local time on Wednesday.
He was received at the airport by the Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila; the Minister of Education; the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle; the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu; and other government officials.
Tinubu had travelled to Saudi Arabia to perform the Umrah, also known as the Lesser Hajj.
Meanwhile, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and Protocol, Ademola Oshodi, has dismissed claims that Tinubu’s pilgrimage was aimed at attracting support from northern voters ahead of the 2027 general election.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, Oshodi said the trip should be viewed from both religious and national perspectives rather than through a political lens.
The presidential aide argued that the President’s access to the Holy Kaaba held significance for Muslims across Nigeria and should not be viewed as an issue concerning only one region.
He said: “You know public opinion is far from being monolithic. One section of the population cannot come and say, ‘This is for votes from the North’.
“I believe we should look at it from a different aspect. This is a huge significance for Nigeria. This is the first South-West leader to have been given that honour. How do the South-West Nigerians see that?
“So, it is not just a Northern or Southern thing. It is a Muslim thing. And the Muslims have cherished this opportunity,” he said.
Oshodi also noted that Tinubu had performed both Umrah and Hajj several times in his lifetime, insisting that his latest trip was not politically motivated.
