13 Arrested Over Pro-Nnamdi Kanu Protest, Remanded In Kuje Prison.
According to Nivo News, the Nigeria Police have filed charges against thirteen individuals accused of staging a protest in Abuja to pressure the Federal Government into releasing the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu. The protest, which took place on Monday, reportedly disrupted public order and traffic flow in the Federal Capital Territory.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The suspects, charged in two separate First Information Reports (FIRs), include Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, Prince Emmanuel Kanu, Joshua Emmanuel, Bishop Wilson Anyalewechi, Barrister Okere Kingdom Nnamdi, Clinton Chimeneze, Gabriel Joshua, Isiaka Husseini, Onyekachi Ferdinand, Amadi Prince, Edison Ojisom, Godwill Obioma, and Chima Onuchukwu. While the first twelve individuals are named in one FIR, Onuchukwu is listed as the sole defendant in the other.
Both FIRs, signed by Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Adedayo Adekunle, allege that the suspects conspired to incite public disturbance, disobey lawful orders, and breach public peace—offences said to contravene Sections 152, 114, and 113 of the Penal Code Law.
The reports claim that on October 20, 2025, the accused were apprehended across various parts of the FCT while chanting war songs, obstructing traffic, and demanding Kanu’s release in defiance of court orders. Police described their actions as a threat to national security and a violation of citizens’ right to free movement.
Additionally, Onuchukwu was said to have been arrested at Gate 8 of the Aso Villa in Abuja while holding placards that read, “Free Nnamdi Kanu.” He was also accused of inciting public unrest and violating court directives.
A member of Kanu’s legal team, Barrister Nnaemeka Ejiofor, confirmed that the suspects were taken before a Magistrate Court in Kuje on Tuesday. According to him, the suspects were not arraigned immediately as they requested to consult their legal representatives.
The Magistrate subsequently ordered their remand in Kuje Correctional Facility and adjourned the matter till October 24, 2025, for arraignment. Ejiofor added that a bail application has been filed on behalf of the defendants, but service to the police is still pending.
