According to Nivo News, tension erupted in Abuja on Monday after police officers allegedly fired teargas to disperse protesters demanding the release of detained Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Kanu’s lead counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, raised the alarm on social media, claiming that the security operatives shot teargas into the air while a massive crowd gathered in front of the Transcorp Hilton Hotel to participate in the rally tagged #MNKOct20.

Ejimakor lamented that the teargas caused him eye and throat irritation, noting that the protesters were forced to scatter in panic. “I’m in front of Transcorp Hilton with a mammoth crowd that gathered for #MNKOct20 and the police just exploded teargas. My eyes and throat hurt. They’re scattering everywhere,” he wrote.

The protesters, according to reports, had converged to reiterate their demand for the Federal Government to obey multiple court orders directing the release of Nnamdi Kanu, who has been in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) since June 2021.

Meanwhile, the Federal Government, through the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), issued a stern warning against any attempt to invade or disrupt its facilities during the protests.

A spokesman of the NCoS, Abubakar Umar, emphasized that all correctional centres across the nation remain “restricted and inviolable,” describing them as “Red Zones.”

He urged members of the public to maintain peace and cooperate with security agencies, insisting that correctional facilities are not designated protest grounds.

African Action Congress (AAC) 2027 presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has cautioned citizens against falling for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s stance on reversing the fuel subsidy. Atiku, who is running under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), previously pledged to restore the subsidy if elected, arguing that the current administration’s removal of the policy has brought no advantages to the country.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In response via an X post, Sowore rejected Atiku’s remarks, asserting that the AAC remains the sole political party that has steadfastly opposed the subsidy removal from the outset. He accused Atiku and other establishment politicians of shifting their stances based on political convenience and foreign capitalist interests, stating that they should not be permitted to rewrite history or masquerade as genuine opposition figures. Sowore further claimed that it was the AAC’s unwavering position at the Nigerian Bar Association Annual General Conference in Port Harcourt that actually rattled the Tinubu government, rather than any actions from Atiku’s camp.
