Chairperson of the Council, Princess Surah Animashaun, disclosed this during the official flag-off of the programme at the council secretariat in Ita-Marun, Epe. She explained that the initiative was part of her administration’s strategic welfare plan designed to give financial relief and promote economic stability among low-income earners.
Princess Animashaun reiterated her commitment to building a self-sustaining and inclusive Epe where every resident, regardless of social or economic background, can prosper. She encouraged beneficiaries to use the grants responsibly to grow their businesses, increase productivity, and improve their families’ livelihoods.
“This empowerment is not just a handout; it is a hand up — a step toward self-dependence, dignity, and renewed hope,” she stated. “Our government believes true leadership is not judged by the number of roads built but by the lives that have been positively touched and transformed.”
The Chairperson further highlighted that the initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to strengthen the nation’s social safety nets and empower grassroots citizens for sustainable economic development.
In addition to the cash grants, Princess Animashaun distributed various business tools, including sewing machines, hairdryers, grinding machines, fishing nets, and safety jackets, to further equip residents for self-reliance and long-term productivity.
Expressing gratitude on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Fatai Oyesanya and Mrs. Funmilayo Oreagba commended the council boss for her continuous commitment to community welfare and promised to make good use of the support to improve their living conditions.
