Chelsea Humiliate Forest 3–0 As Awoniyi Returns In Painful Defeat.
Chelsea overpowered Nottingham Forest with a convincing 3–0 victory at the City Ground on Saturday, despite Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi making his long-awaited return to the starting lineup.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to Nivo News, the Super Eagles forward featured for the first time since suffering a serious abdominal injury that left him in a coma last season. Awoniyi started brightly but missed an early chance to put Forest ahead, while teammate Morgan Gibbs-White squandered two more opportunities in the first half.
Chelsea, who were missing key midfielders Cole Palmer and Enzo Fernández due to injuries, struggled to find rhythm early in the game. Moisés Caicedo was also left out of the starting eleven, but his introduction after halftime sparked a turnaround for the visitors.
The Blues’ resurgence began when young defender Josh Acheampong and winger Pedro Neto scored in quick succession shortly after the break. Captain Reece James later sealed the emphatic win with a composed finish to make it 3–0.
The heavy defeat compounded Nottingham Forest’s woes and led to the immediate dismissal of manager Ange Postecoglou just 19 minutes after the final whistle. The 60-year-old Australian departed after only 39 days in charge, during which the club failed to record a single win in eight matches.
