According to Nivo News, Super Falcons head coach Justine Madugu has unveiled a 21-player squad for Nigeria’s crucial Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifying encounter against the Benin Republic.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The two-legged clash will decide which nation secures a place at the 2026 WAFCON in Morocco — a tournament that also serves as Africa’s qualification route to the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.

Benin will host the first leg at Stade Kegue in Lomé, Togo, as they currently lack a Confederation of African Football (CAF)-approved home ground. The decisive return leg is set for Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at the MKO Abiola Sports Complex in Abeokuta, Nigeria.

Ten-time African champions Nigeria remain overwhelming favourites, with a star-studded squad featuring a blend of experience and youthful energy. Captain Rasheedat Ajibade, who recently scored for Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Women’s Champions League against Real Madrid, headlines the team and is expected to play a pivotal role once again.

Goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, who has won the African Goalkeeper of the Year award twice consecutively, also makes the cut. The defensive lineup includes Michelle Alozie, Ashleigh Plumptre, and veteran Osinachi Ohale, while the midfield will be anchored by Christy Ucheibe, Jennifer Echegini, and Deborah Abiodun.

Leading the attack are Barcelona legend Asisat Oshoala, Chinwendu Ihezuo, and Esther Okoronkwo, alongside rising stars Folashade Ijamilusi and Kafayat Mafisere.
