According to Nivo News, six local government chairmen in Bayelsa State have officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to align with Governor Douye Diri, following his recent defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The chairmen, operating under the umbrella of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), made the announcement during a press conference at the ALGON Secretariat in Yenagoa on Wednesday.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Lelei Tariye Isaac, Chairman of Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area, said the worsening internal crisis within the PDP prompted their collective decision to leave.

Isaac explained that since their leader, Governor Diri, had officially resigned from the PDP, they had chosen to follow his political direction. “We were elected on the PDP platform, but as our leader has now moved on, we stand with him. Therefore, as chairmen, vice chairmen, councillors, and appointees in the local government areas, we are also resigning from the PDP,” he stated.

He expressed gratitude to the people of Bayelsa for their unwavering support toward the Diri-led administration, emphasizing that their loyalty had strengthened their commitment to service delivery.

Among those who attended the briefing were David Alagoa of Nembe LGA, Target Isaiah Segibo of Southern Ijaw LGA, and Bulodisiye Ndiwari of Yenagoa LGA. Also present were Isaac Onniye of Ekeremor LGA and Golden Jeremiah of Ogbia LGA.

However, the chairmen of Sagbama and Brass LGAs, Alice Allen Tangi and Lucky Febo, were notably absent from the meeting.

JAMB Releases 632,788 UTME Results For 2026 Candidates.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the release of 632,788 results for candidates who sat for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) held on April 16.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a statement signed by its spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, the Board advised candidates to check their results by sending “UTMERESULT” via SMS to 55019 or 66019 using the same phone number used during registration.

JAMB stated that candidates can currently only view their results, adding that printing of result slips will be activated later.

The Board also warned candidates against tampering with or falsifying result messages obtained through official channels, describing such actions as a serious criminal offence.

It revealed that enforcement measures are already underway, with some individuals arrested for alleged result manipulation using digital tools.
