Peter Obi Slams ₦1.5 Billion Lawsuit On Deji Adeyanju Over Defamation.
Former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has instituted a legal action against human rights activist Deji Adeyanju over alleged defamatory statements made against him on social media.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to Nivo News, Obi accused Adeyanju of spreading false, baseless, and malicious claims aimed at damaging his personal and political reputation. The suit, filed at the State High Court in Onitsha, Anambra State, seeks a total of ₦1.5 billion in damages for what Obi described as reckless and scandalous publications.
In the court documents, Obi urged the court to compel Adeyanju to issue an unreserved public apology on social media and in three national newspapers. He is also demanding that Adeyanju delete all defamatory posts from his social media accounts, including his X handle (@adeyanjudeji), Facebook page, and Instagram profile.
The court filing further requested a perpetual injunction restraining Adeyanju and his affiliates from making or circulating any future defamatory remarks against Obi.
The former Anambra governor is also seeking ₦500 million in aggravated damages for the activist’s “reckless and malicious conduct,” as well as ₦1 billion in general damages for the emotional distress and reputational harm allegedly caused by the publications.
