FG Breaks Silence, Says JAMB Still In Charge Of University Admissions.
The Federal Government has debunked circulating reports suggesting the abolition of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) as the official body responsible for tertiary institution admissions in Nigeria.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to Nivo News, the clarification was made in a statement released on Thursday by the spokesperson of the Federal Ministry of Education, Boriowo Folasade, on behalf of the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa.
The Minister dismissed the claims as baseless and misleading, emphasizing that the Ministry neither issued nor authorized any announcement indicating the discontinuation of JAMB’s role in the admission process.
“For the avoidance of doubt, JAMB remains the statutory and legally empowered body responsible for conducting entrance examinations and coordinating admissions into all tertiary institutions in Nigeria,” Alausa stated.
He added that the existing admission procedures through JAMB remain fully effective and that any reports suggesting otherwise should be disregarded.
Dr. Alausa further urged students, parents, and tertiary institutions to rely only on official communication channels of the Ministry and JAMB for accurate updates on admission processes and other education-related information.
The Federal Government reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining transparency, merit, and fairness within the nation’s tertiary education system while restating that JAMB remains an indispensable component of Nigeria’s academic framework.
