Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have apprehended two employees of Metrodigital Television Limited, operators of SLTV, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, for their alleged involvement in the illegal rebroadcasting of DStv and GOtv channels.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to Nivo News, the arrest followed a preservation order issued by Justice Adamu Mohammed of the Federal High Court, empowering the EFCC and other security agencies to seize all equipment and documents linked to the suspected act of piracy.

The operation was conducted at the company’s premises located at No. 12 Order Street, Rumuola, Stadium Link Road, GRA Phase IV, Port Harcourt. During the raid, EFCC operatives reportedly confiscated broadcasting machines, decoders, transmission devices, servers, and several documents suspected to contain records of unauthorized signal manipulation.

Two officials of the company identified as Chinedu Nwaikwu, a director, and Uche Kanu, an engineer in the transmission room, were arrested. A source disclosed that they were caught with 22 decoders actively transmitting at the time of the operation.

Court documents obtained by Nivo News indicated that the EFCC was directed to secure and tag all seized items as exhibits, alongside a detailed seizure report with photographs and serial numbers, to be presented in court.

Justice Mohammed also issued an injunction restraining Metrodigital Television Limited, its Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Ifeanyi John Nwafor, and associated companies—Denna Rossi Limited, Kristal Food and Beverages, and QTV Plus Limited—from further accessing or transmitting DStv and GOtv signals pending the determination of the case.

The injunction further mandated law enforcement agencies to shut down any ongoing illegal transmissions and monitor compliance to prevent future violations. In addition, the court ordered a Post-No-Debit (PND) restriction on several bank accounts linked to the alleged proceeds of piracy.

The affected accounts include those belonging to Ifeanyi John Nwafor, Metrodigital Television Ltd/SLTV, Denna Rossi Limited, Kristal Food and Beverages, and QTV Plus Limited. The EFCC was authorized to notify commercial banks, obtain BVN and account details, and preserve the funds as suspected illicit proceeds.

The case has been adjourned to October 22, 2025, for plea and continuation of trial. However, the court declined the EFCC’s request for an arrest warrant and INTERPOL watch-listing of the defendants, citing that they had not yet been formally arraigned.

Justice Mohammed emphasized that the commission is permitted to access the company’s premises for evidence collection while restraining all defendants and unauthorized parties from manipulating or transmitting DStv and GOtv signals.

The EFCC reaffirmed its commitment to protecting intellectual property rights and dismantling illegal content redistribution networks, noting that all confiscated items have been securely preserved as evidence for the upcoming hearing.
