“PDP Is A Carcass, Only APC Is Alive in Enugu” — Ex-Youth Leader Udeh-Okoye Blasts Party.
Former National Youth Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sunday Udeh-Okoye, has asserted that the once-dominant opposition party has completely lost its relevance, describing it as a “carcass” of its former self.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to Nivo News, Udeh-Okoye made the declaration during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, where he accused the PDP leadership of incompetence and mismanagement that have driven loyal members away.
He predicted that another South-East state would soon defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC), stressing that the ruling party’s influence in the region is growing rapidly. “Just wait and see; very soon, another state will fall in the South-East to the APC,” he said, without naming the specific state.
Udeh-Okoye, who recently resigned from the PDP in a letter addressed to his ward chairman in Agbogugu, Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State, said the mass defections witnessed in Enugu reflect the consequences of years of failed leadership.
The development comes shortly after Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, officially joined the APC alongside other key PDP figures. The former youth leader attributed these moves to the PDP’s collapse, saying the party’s structure has been destroyed by its own national officials.
“PDP is not only dead; what you have in Enugu, if it still exists at all, is a carcass. The only party that is alive in Enugu today is APC,” he declared.
Dismissing claims that defectors were lured with money, Udeh-Okoye maintained that the APC’s attraction lies in its better management style and strategic leadership. “APC is not offering us anything other than good management. Forget about money—we are not poor or beggars,” he insisted.
Blaming the party’s decline on figures such as Umar Damagum, Samuel Anyanwu, and Umar Bature, Udeh-Okoye accused them of “coming not to grow the PDP, but to bury it.”
The South-East geopolitical zone currently has three of its five states — Imo, Ebonyi, and Enugu — under APC control, while Anambra is governed by the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and Abia by the Labour Party (LP).
Udeh-Okoye, who represented Awgu North Constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly from 2011 to 2017, served as PDP’s national youth leader between 2017 and 2021.
