The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as its sole candidates for the 2027 general elections. According to Nivo News, the motion for a vote of confidence was moved by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN), and seconded by former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Victor Ochei. Keyamo lauded President Tinubu’s “bold reforms and transformative leadership,” particularly citing the removal of fuel subsidy as a visionary decision that has redirected national savings toward vital infrastructure projects.

He highlighted recent presidential approvals, including a $1 billion investment for the revival of the Warri Port, the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway, and major upgrades to the Lagos Airport, describing Tinubu as a “prudent manager and visionary leader.”

Keyamo also praised Governor Oborevwori’s impressive infrastructural strides in Delta State, noting that his administration’s record justified the call for his endorsement. He stressed that the unified vote reflected the strong internal cohesion within the APC in Delta State.

Supporting the motion, Ochei commended both Tinubu and Oborevwori for their inclusive governance and developmental achievements across Nigeria and Delta State, respectively.

Governor Oborevwori, in his remarks, applauded the President’s leadership, describing him as “a man who rewards loyalty, commitment, and results.” He cautioned party members against hypocrisy, warning that disloyal individuals who benefitted despite not contributing to the APC’s success would be exposed ahead of the next elections.

“In 2027, our votes will be our report card. Those who truly love the President must demonstrate it at the ballot box,” he declared, emphasizing that loyalty and hard work would determine future rewards.

The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to development, listing ongoing projects such as the ₦59 billion Uromi Junction Flyover, the ₦39 billion Ughelli Flyover, and the forthcoming rehabilitation of the Warri/Sapele Road. He noted that Delta remains one of the few states where contractors receive 40 percent upfront payment and are never owed, attributing the financial discipline to effective management and the impact of federal reforms.

Former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, who recently joined the APC, expressed optimism about the party’s growing unity and strength. He described the mass defection of April 2025 as “a defining moment in Delta’s political evolution,” affirming that the APC is now strategically positioned for victory in 2027.

Okowa hailed Tinubu’s economic policies as “bold and necessary,” urging party leaders to enlighten citizens on the long-term benefits of current national reforms. He also commended Governor Oborevwori for fostering harmony within the Delta APC, describing his humility and inclusive approach as key to the party’s revitalization across all senatorial districts.

SSANU Threatens Indefinite Strike Over FG’s 30% Salary Increment Plan.

The Federal Government has approved a 30 per cent salary increase for non-academic staff in federal universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education, in a move aimed at addressing long-standing welfare concerns in the education sector.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The decision is intended to improve the conditions of service for administrative and technical workers in higher institutions. It comes after years of agitation by unions over pay disparities, unpaid entitlements, and following a recent 40 per cent salary adjustment granted to academic staff.

The approval was contained in a letter dated March 30, 2026, signed by the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa. It stated that the increase would be implemented through a consolidated allowance structure for non-teaching staff.

Relevant education agencies were directed to begin implementation based on guidelines attached to the memo.

However, the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) has rejected the development, insisting that negotiations with the government are still ongoing and no final agreement has been reached.

Following a National Executive Council meeting in Abuja, the union dismissed reports suggesting a concluded deal, saying discussions were still in progress.

SSANU also expressed concern over a circulating letter on the salary adjustment, arguing that it does not reflect the outcome of negotiations so far.

The union maintained it would not accept any arrangement that does not follow due process and agreed terms, stressing the need for fairness in the negotiation process.

It also reiterated its earlier warning, giving the Federal Government until April 30, 2026, to conclude talks or risk an indefinite strike in collaboration with NASU.

Members were advised to remain alert and await further directives from the union leadership.

In a post shared on X on Saturday, he condemned those calling out other Igbos over their political support for the president’s second-term bid.

Edochie also questioned why similar energy is not directed at supporters from other parts of the country who back Tinubu.

He further suggested that selective criticism reflects bias and misplaced anger among those targeting fellow Igbos.

He wrote: “Any Igbo man that is dragging his fellow Igbo man for supporting President TINUBU, that person is a monkey and a coward.
