Speaking during a special service to commemorate the World Food Day Celebration and the Joint Women’s Organization’s Annual Conference Thanksgiving at the Cathedral of St. Peter, Aremo, Ibadan, on Sunday, Archbishop Aladekugbe acknowledged that noticeable price reductions have been observed in major food commodities such as rice and other essentials.
According to Nivo News, the cleric praised the government’s ongoing efforts to stabilize the naira, describing them as yielding visible results. He noted that the recent improvements in the food sector were encouraging signs of progress in the government’s economic policies.
However, Archbishop Aladekugbe urged Nigerians to contribute to sustaining food security by engaging in agricultural practices to strengthen the nation’s economy. “To achieve lasting food security, all hands must be on deck. Everyone should participate in agricultural ventures that can help build our economy,” he said.
In his address, Oyo State Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr. Olasunkanmi Olaleye, revealed that the state government has slashed tractor hiring fees by 50 percent and introduced heavy subsidies on farming inputs to support local farmers and boost food production.
He expressed gratitude to the clergy and members of the Diocese for their consistent prayers and support towards the success of the state government’s agricultural initiatives.
Addressing the theme of the Women’s Conference, “Fitness for God’s Kingdom,” Archbishop Aladekugbe urged believers to prioritize spiritual discipline over material pursuits. He warned against distractions, greed, and moral decay, calling on Christians to strengthen their faith through prayer, worship, and studying the Word of God.
Presenting the communiqué at the end of the event, Mrs. Catherine Aladekugbe, President of the Ibadan North Anglican Diocesan Women and Girls Organization, encouraged Nigerians to shun evil and live righteously, assuring that faithfulness to God brings blessings both now and in eternity.
The event was graced by dignitaries including Oyo State Permanent Secretaries Mrs. Abosede Owoeye and Dr. Kola Badmus, General Manager of the Oyo State Printing Press Mr. Victor Muyiwa Kayode, and several association leaders, clergy members, and traditional rulers.
