The Nigerian Army has confirmed the death of four soldiers following a fierce insurgent attack on the Military Super Camp in Ngamdu, situated along the Damaturu–Maiduguri highway.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to Nivo News, the Army, through the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, North East Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, disclosed that the troops successfully repelled the assault despite heavy enemy fire.

While earlier reports suggested that eight soldiers had died in the encounter, the Army officially confirmed only four fatalities and five others wounded in action.

The statement explained that the insurgents launched a coordinated assault on the camp, deploying rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs), armed drones, and improvised explosive devices (IEDs). However, the troops held their ground, responding with superior firepower that inflicted heavy casualties on the terrorists.

“Despite the intensity of the attack, our forces maintained control and inflicted significant losses on the enemy. Unfortunately, four soldiers were killed and five others injured. Some Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected vehicles and gun trucks also sustained damages,” the statement read.

The Army further revealed that the insurgents attempted to block reinforcements by planting multiple IEDs along the Ngamdu–Damaturu Main Supply Route, which led to a temporary road closure. Military engineers, however, cleared three explosive-laden spots, after which the route was reopened for civilian and military movement.

The troops were promptly resupplied with essential logistics, including MRAP tyres and ammunition, to maintain operations and mobility. Intelligence gathered later confirmed that the terrorists suffered heavy losses, with reports of at least 15 corpses buried by the attackers near Bula Wura, around Wasaram.

In the aftermath, the 29 Task Force Brigade launched further fighting patrols and clearance operations to deny the terrorists freedom of movement and consolidate territorial gains. The Army commended the courage of the troops and assured the public that peace and stability would be maintained across the region.

Tinubu Cancels Engagements, Pays Heartfelt Condolence Visit to Kano Over Dantata’s Death

Meanwhile, travelers on the Maiduguri–Damaturu–Kano highway endured severe delays on Thursday as the road was blocked for over seven hours during the clearance operations. Hundreds of commuters were stranded at various points, with many long-distance travelers forced to abandon their journeys.

One passenger, Mustapha Yaya, a postgraduate student at the University of Maiduguri, lamented missing his scheduled class due to the closure, while a commercial driver from Kano recounted how his passengers canceled their trip out of fear.

Findings by Nivo News indicated that the highway had remained incident-free for over three years until this latest attack. Some travelers expressed concern over the renewed threat and urged President Bola Tinubu to reinforce security along the route to prevent further attacks.

According to the source, the twins maintained a daily routine of speaking around midnight, but the conversation took a sudden turn that night when unusual activity was noticed at the General’s end.

He said the line went dead abruptly after the General paused during the call, apparently due to the unfolding situation at the base.

The twin brother reportedly made repeated attempts to reconnect, sending messages and calling continuously, but received no response throughout the night.

“He kept trying until about 4 am, but there was no answer,” the source said.

The relative described the incident as devastating, noting that communication had broken down during the assault.

The late General was later buried alongside other fallen soldiers in Maiduguri, Borno State.

He wrote, “Chiemeka Chibuzor’s wedding is hereby suspended. More than a thousand applications. No more wedding pending further directive from me.”

The cleric had earlier this week publicly invited proposals for her marriage, setting conditions that included the suitor being young and in good physical and mental health, alongside promised financial support and housing benefits.

He also said the couple would enjoy lifelong support, including shared property ownership and periodic welfare checks from church members.

The development follows a similar arrangement recently conducted by the church involving a non-verbal autistic man who was married in a ceremony organised by the ministry.
