Vice President for Educational and Academic Affairs at King Khalid University, Prof. Saad M. Bin Dajem, made this known during the opening ceremony of the Forum of Saudi Arabian Universities Alumni in Nigeria and Neighbouring Countries held in Abuja.

Prof. Dajem disclosed that over 3,200 Nigerians have graduated from Saudi universities within the last decade, reflecting a strong educational bond between both nations.

“In Saudi Arabia, there are more than 850 students from Nigeria currently studying in different fields. For decades, more than 3,200 Nigerians have graduated from our universities,” he revealed.

The Saudi scholar emphasized that the Kingdom remains open to admitting more Nigerians into its higher institutions, assuring that prospective students would continue to benefit from favorable academic policies and conducive learning conditions.

“We are proud to accept more Nigerian students into our universities across disciplines such as education, engineering, sciences, Arabic language, religious studies, and medicine,” he said. “Saudi Arabia values Nigeria’s population and contribution to Africa’s development, and we will continue to create more opportunities for them.”

Prof. Dajem also noted that Saudi Arabia’s scholarship schemes are open to all students, regardless of their religious background.

“Admission and scholarships are accessible to everyone—Muslims and non-Muslims alike. Universities like King Abdullah University for Science and Technology and King Fahd University for Petroleum and Minerals accept students from all cultures and continents,” he explained.

He added that the ongoing alumni forum aims to strengthen communication among graduates of Saudi universities in Nigeria and assess their impact on their respective communities.

“We have observed that many of our alumni are active contributors to national growth and development. We expect that they will continue to promote sustainable development and improve lives upon their return,” he added.

On prospects for Nigerian graduates, Prof. Dajem stated that those who excel can pursue postgraduate studies or even secure academic employment in Saudi Arabia. “Graduates who distinguish themselves may continue to master’s or PhD levels, and those qualified could be hired as professors,” he said.

Minister of State for Education, Dr. Suwaiba Said Ahmad, in her opening remarks, commended Saudi Arabia’s longstanding commitment to educational cooperation and cultural exchange with Nigeria.

“Such partnerships enrich our human capital and strengthen bilateral ties for mutual benefit,” she said. “I encourage alumni to continue serving as ambassadors of knowledge, peace, and development. Their mentorship, intercultural engagement, and contribution to nation-building remain invaluable.”

Dr. Ahmad also acknowledged the impact of Nigerian alumni from Saudi universities in promoting national unity, education, and progress.

“Beyond academic achievements, you symbolize the bridge of friendship and cooperation between Nigeria and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The training and discipline you received abroad have equipped you to drive Nigeria’s sustainable development,” she added.

Secretary of the Alumni, Dr. Mohamed Munir Ilyas, a graduate of the Islamic University of Medina, shared how the alumni association has been fostering peaceful coexistence among Nigeria’s major religious groups.

“Where there is no peace, development cannot thrive,” he said. “We encourage our members to be law-abiding citizens, peacebuilders, and contributors to both moral and academic growth in the country.”

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that the presidential candidates of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, and the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, have nothing to offer Nigerians.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Wike made the remarks during his monthly media chat with selected journalists in Abuja, where he questioned the records of Atiku and other political figures who had previously held positions of power.

He maintained that Nigerians were aware that Atiku had failed to make meaningful contributions when he was given the opportunity to serve.

The minister also questioned who could stand against President Bola Tinubu’s political influence if the 2027 presidential election proceeds to a runoff.

Wike said: “I’m a political scientist and have been in politics more than a decade. Assuming there is a presidential runoff, it will be between Tinubu and who?

“Nigerians know that Atiku and co have been given the opportunity and they did not do anything, Nigerians know that the former governor of Rivers State looted our state, Nigerians know that Obi has nothing to offer, you were there when Soludo opened a can of worms.

“You talk about Kwankwaso my friend, I agree that he is very popular, he ran in 2023, won Kano and the rest Northern states, who were they voting?”

Meanwhile, Wike has dismissed claims that Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s political future has been jeopardised by his prolonged political dispute with the FCT minister.

He argued that Fubara is still young and that it would be wrong to conclude that his political prospects have been ruined.

Wike made the clarification on Thursday in Abuja during his monthly media chat with selected journalists.

The minister also disclosed that Fubara is an active member of the Rainbow Coalition, a multi-party political group supporting President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.

According to Wike, the Rivers governor played a role in unveiling the coalition’s candidates in the state.

He said: “Governor Fubara is a young man. It will be incorrect to say that his political future is gone.

“Fubara is an active member of the Rainbow Coalition; in fact, he was the one who unveiled the Rainbow Coalition candidates in Rivers State.”

Equatorial Guinea goalkeeper Jesus Owono has withdrawn from the national team squad ahead of their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches against Zimbabwe following the death of Tenerife forward Jesus de Miguel.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The 30-year-old striker died on Monday after suffering a serious injury in a collision with Owono during a Spanish second-division match.

Owono, 25, described the incident as “the most difficult days of my life” in a statement released by his club, FC Andorra, on Wednesday.

The goalkeeper also admitted that it was “very hard to come to terms with what has happened” as he continues to grapple with the emotional impact of the tragedy.

Equatorial Guinea’s football federation, Feguifut, confirmed that Owono had asked to withdraw from the squad named by head coach Vincenzo Alberto Annese for the upcoming fixtures.

Feguifut president Venancio Tomas Micha had earlier expressed the federation’s support for the goalkeeper, promising “all our human and professional backing” to help him through the difficult period.

Owono has been Equatorial Guinea’s first-choice goalkeeper since November 2020 and has represented the country at the last three AFCON tournaments. His withdrawal is therefore a significant setback for the National Thunder as they prepare for their two meetings with Zimbabwe.

Equatorial Guinea will host Zimbabwe in Bata on Thursday, November 12, before travelling to Harare for the return leg on Monday, November 16.

Both sides have earned three points from their opening two Group E matches and are currently level in the standings.

DR Congo lead the group with six points, while Sierra Leone sit at the bottom without a point.

The two-match encounter offers Equatorial Guinea and Zimbabwe an opportunity to strengthen their chances of qualifying for the tournament. However, the National Thunder will now have to prepare for the fixtures without their established first-choice goalkeeper.

I Can Let Go Of Anybody For Acting – Kunle Afod Speaks On Marriage.

Published

Nollywood actor and filmmaker Kunle Afod has said he would rather remain committed to his acting career than abandon it for his wife or anyone else.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Yoruba actor made this known during an interview with Kasnasty Sugar on YouTube on Thursday, November 5, 2026.

Afod explained that people who are passionate about creative work often find it difficult to prioritise their relationships over their careers.

According to him, acting is more than a means of earning a living; it is a calling he believes he was born to fulfil.

He stressed that his passion for filmmaking is so strong that he would not allow anyone to hinder his career, even if it meant walking away from a relationship.

He said: “I was born for this and I will die for it.

“What we actors love most is our work not our wife. We love the job we do more than anything else. If you’re a creative person, you will love art more than any other thing.

“That’s why it’s not easy for our partners to cope because they see art as their rival. It’s only when you don’t love acting that you will consider leaving it for your wife or husband but if you truly love the job, you will prefer to let go of anybody for it.

“Sometimes I don’t call my kids in six months. Nobody can hinder me. I was born for this and I will die for it. I had the opportunity to relocate abroad so many years ago but I didn’t embrace it because of this same job.”
