According to Nivo News, this year’s edition gained added prestige with Seaman’s Schnapps — Nigeria’s original prayer drink — taking centre stage as the official drink for prayers and libations throughout the festivities.

Before the sacred rites began, His Imperial Majesty, Oonirisa Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi (Ojaja II), received representatives of Seaman’s Schnapps ahead of his seclusion, where he commended the brand for its long-standing support of Yoruba culture. He described the company’s loyalty as a symbol of dedication to heritage preservation.

The climax of the festival came as the Ooni emerged in a grand procession after days of spiritual retreat, with chants reverberating through the ancient city. Seaman’s Schnapps was poured in prayers and blessings, further establishing its symbolic place in Yoruba spirituality.

Visitors and guests were also treated to cultural showcases at the Seaman’s Experience stands, where traditional chanters, ewi performers, and elegantly branded hostesses entertained and welcomed participants. Attendees enjoyed the signature drink, blending culture with taste in a celebration of Yoruba identity.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Gbemileke Lawal, Marketing Manager of Nigeria Distilleries Limited, described the Olojo Festival as a timeless celebration, affirming that Seaman’s Schnapps would continue to serve as a cultural bridge connecting generations. Similarly, Mrs. Nnenna Uche-Onyenacho, Senior Brand Manager of the brand, noted that Seaman’s Schnapps has grown beyond being just a drink, evolving into a cultural icon deeply intertwined with Yoruba spirituality and heritage.

The 2025 Olojo Festival drew monarchs, cultural enthusiasts, and international visitors, reaffirming its global appeal and cultural significance. With every chant and libation, Seaman’s Schnapps reinforced its role as the drink of honour, prayer, and blessings — a bridge between ancestors and the present generation.

75-Year Jail Term Not Enough? Court To Rule On Seizure Of Mamman’s Luxury Abuja And Kaduna Estates.

Published

on

The Federal High Court in Abuja has scheduled July 2 for its ruling on an Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) application for the final forfeiture of five properties tied to former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman. Justice James Omotosho set this date following arguments from both the prosecution and the defense.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

    • Background: Mamman, who was convicted and sentenced to 75 years in prison in May 2026 for laundering public funds, is the subject of this additional forfeiture request.

    • The Properties: The EFCC seeks to seize the Walijam Apartments and A.U.A Plaza in Wuse 2, Abuja; two mansions located on Misratah Street, Wuse 2, Abuja; and Bloom Luxury Suites Nigeria Limited in Unguwan Rimi, Kaduna State.

    • Legal Arguments: EFCC counsel Abbas Muhammed argued that the court retains the authority to grant this consequential order, noting that despite prior forfeiture orders, only a small fraction of the 22 billion naira siphoned by the former minister has been recovered. Conversely, defense lawyer Femi Atteh (SAN) challenged the court’s jurisdiction, arguing that the court is functus officio following the criminal judgment and that some properties involve third parties who were not part of the original trial.

    • Apology: During the proceedings, Atteh apologized to the court and successfully withdrew a previous affidavit filed by a member of his chambers that had characterized the judge’s sentencing judgment as an “emotional outburst”.

    • Status of the Convict: Following his conviction, Mamman—who had initially evaded court appearances—was arrested by the EFCC on May 19, 2026, and is currently serving his sentence at the Kuje Custodial Centre.
