The two-day event, held at Radisson Blu Hotel in Ikeja, brought together media executives, policymakers, and creative professionals under the theme “Sustainable Content Creation in a Fragmented Media Space.” Since its inception in 2022, NEMCEA has positioned itself as Nigeria’s foremost content marketplace, showcasing creativity while fostering industry-wide collaboration and innovation.

The 2025 edition featured a vibrant content exhibition, thought-provoking master classes, and an awards ceremony that celebrated excellence. EMCOAN President, Adeniji Omirin, in his opening remarks, emphasized the association’s vision of creating a hub for ideas and opportunities while addressing the realities of a fragmented audience spread across multiple platforms. He stressed the urgent need for sustainable models of content creation, distribution, and monetization, highlighting the consistent demand for quality local content.

In line with global trends, this year’s event introduced an Artificial Intelligence Master Class, which Omirin described as a crucial step in ensuring Nigeria’s creative ecosystem remains competitive while also sparking dialogue on the ethical use of AI in content production.

Representing the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Idris Mohammed Malagi, the Director-General of the Voice of Nigeria, Jibrin Baba Ndache, lauded EMCOAN for its role in preserving cultural values while upholding professional standards. He noted that despite challenges such as funding gaps, intellectual property concerns, and digital disruptions, the federal government remains committed to providing an enabling environment for media practitioners and enhancing Nigeria’s image on the global stage.

NEMCEA Project Director, Alayande Stephen, underscored the timeliness of the theme, noting that while media fragmentation presents hurdles, it equally opens up immense opportunities for creators who can adapt and innovate. Former Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, further enriched the discussions with insights on changing consumer behavior. He revealed that online video now commands about 32 percent of total advertising expenditure, cautioning that content restricted to traditional television risks losing substantial audiences in today’s rapidly evolving media landscape.

With thought leadership, policy engagement, and innovation at its core, NEMCEA 2025 has reinforced EMCOAN’s mission to chart a sustainable path for Nigeria’s creative economy in the digital era.

Despite intense efforts from both sides during the remainder of regulation and throughout extra time, neither team could find a winning goal.

The title was ultimately decided by penalties. In the shootout, PSG held their nerve, with Lucas Beraldo converting their final spot-kick. With Arsenal needing to score to force sudden death, defender Gabriel Magalhães sent his effort over the bar, sealing a 4-3 victory for the French side.
