Pharmacists across Nigeria have been urged to embrace technology as a catalyst for transformation in the nation’s healthcare sector. According to Omale, who delivered the keynote address on the theme “Technology Infusion in Healthcare Practices: The Panacea for the Future of Community Pharmacy”, digital tools are no longer optional but essential for growth and sustainability. “Our practices must evolve to remain meaningful and effective. Technology must be at the heart of that transformation,” he stated.

Omale stressed that sustainability in pharmacy lies in innovation, data-driven decision-making, and patient-centered care. He noted that technology can improve efficiency, enhance patient safety, and enable professionals to manage the complexities of modern healthcare. However, he warned that these benefits require deliberate investment in training and continuous professional development.

Highlighting challenges such as resistance to change, inadequate standardization, limited access to digital tools, and regulatory gaps, Omale urged pharmacists to modernize their systems and adopt ethical practices that ensure both quality and profitability.

The chairman of ACPN, FCT chapter, Pharm. Aloba Olatunji, described the summit as a platform to empower members and equip them with tools to adapt to the evolving healthcare environment. He emphasized that while artificial intelligence is emerging as a disruptor globally, pharmacists in Africa remain indispensable due to the region’s unique health realities, including tropical medicine.

Olatunji also assured that the ACPN is working closely with regulatory bodies such as NAFDAC and NDLEA to combat the menace of fake and substandard drugs. He further appealed to Nigerians to always seek professional guidance in drug use, warning that “a beautiful diagnosis without the right drug, dose, and duration will not yield a beautiful result.”

The event also featured goodwill messages from stakeholders, including the NDLEA, which described pharmacists as the frontline interface with communities in the fight against substance abuse. The summit concluded with empowerment initiatives and incentives designed to support members navigating the country’s challenging business environment.

The match began with an immediate impact from Arsenal, as Kai Havertz capitalized on a pass from Leandro Trossard to put the London club ahead within the first six minutes. Arsenal maintained their lead for much of the first half, successfully frustrating the French champions.

The momentum shifted in the 63rd minute when a VAR review resulted in a penalty for PSG. Ousmane Dembélé stepped up to the spot and converted two minutes later, bringing the score level at 1-1. Despite intense efforts from both sides during the remainder of regulation and throughout extra time, neither team could find a winning goal.

The title was ultimately decided by penalties. In the shootout, PSG held their nerve, with Lucas Beraldo converting their final spot-kick. With Arsenal needing to score to force sudden death, defender Gabriel Magalhães sent his effort over the bar, sealing a 4-3 victory for the French side.

This triumph marks a historic achievement for PSG, who become the first French club to win the UEFA Champions League title in two consecutive seasons, having defeated Inter Milan 5-0 in the 2025 final.
