Maikalangu, who currently chairs the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling APC and is seeking a second term in office.
Speaking at the flag-off of a seven-kilometre road construction project linking Tunga Madaki and eight surrounding communities, Wike urged residents to align with the ruling party and reciprocate the Federal Government’s developmental strides through their votes.
According to Nivo News, the minister explained that the road project is part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and also a direct response to demands made by the affected communities during negotiations for land acquired to construct the second runway at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport. Wike revealed that President Tinubu personally approved the road after learning that the communities had no access routes despite giving up their ancestral lands for the national project.
The minister assured that the road would be completed by June 2026, coinciding with the third anniversary of the Tinubu administration. He also commended the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), the contractor handling the project, for committing to the delivery timeline.
Wike praised Maikalangu for consistently advocating for the people and pushing for the road’s inclusion, describing him as a true representative of community interests. He urged residents to back Maikalangu in the 2026 elections, stressing that the project’s inauguration would mark a celebration of fulfilled promises.
