Tech Revolution: Women Take the Lead in Networking With NetClan’s Training
The NetClan Initiative has marked another milestone in its mission to foster gender inclusion in technology with the graduation of the second cohort of the Ladies in Network Engineering (LINE) programme, where most participants successfully earned Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certifications.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Co-founded by Abigail Jeffiah and Theodore Chukwudi, the initiative seeks to open pathways for aspiring network engineers, especially women, in a field often overshadowed by software development and cybersecurity. Jeffiah explained that NetClan was created to fill a gap where network engineers could motivate each other to upskill, noting that the profession remains critical to every organization.
Since its inception, the programme has sponsored over 30 women for certification exams. In the most recent cohort, more than 20 participants enjoyed full sponsorship, while others received partial support covering up to half of their exam fees. Jeffiah described the graduation as deeply personal, recalling her own challenges as one of the few women in technical workshops.
Instructors and facilitators celebrated the success of the graduates, emphasizing mentorship, teamwork, and real-world applications. Emmanuel Samuel, one of the trainers, highlighted the significance of women’s growing presence in network engineering, describing it as proof that women can thrive when given the right support. Another facilitator, Ketcha Karen, praised the collaboration and confidence demonstrated by the participants, noting that their achievements will inspire more women to pursue careers in tech.
Graduates also shared personal testimonies of transformation. Network Security Engineer Odoh Ifunanya JaneFrances credited the programme with helping her secure her first job after gaining a deeper understanding of networking. She encouraged aspiring students to take advantage of the opportunities offered by NetClan.
Mentors such as Olumayowa Akinkuehinmi described the experience as rewarding, seeing students progress from curiosity to certified professionals. He advised upcoming learners to remain curious, keep learning, and focus on real-world problem-solving.
Looking forward, the initiative plans to expand beyond LINE, with Cohort 3 retaining its rigorous training while the founders pursue the establishment of a NetClan Institute to offer advanced training in cybersecurity, cloud technologies, and artificial intelligence. Plans are also underway to launch the NetClan Community, enabling engineers to specialize in areas such as wireless networking, programmability, and DevOps.
According to Nivo News, NetClan hopes to leverage partnerships with Cisco Networking Academy to organize bootcamps, competitions, and workshops that will further highlight the relevance of network engineering. Despite challenges with limited resources, Chukwudi stressed that the initiative remains focused on impact-driven results rather than visibility on social media.
