Oyo PDP Elects New Executives As Makinde Declares Total Victory Ahead Of 2027.

Speaking at the Oyo State PDP Congress held at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan, Makinde attributed the party’s strength to its respect for internal democracy and the peaceful conduct of its congresses across all levels. He assured members who are yet to be compensated by the government that they had not been forgotten, stressing that all faithful would reap the rewards of their commitment.

The governor charged the newly elected state executives to work diligently to secure victories for the PDP at all levels, from the presidential to councillorship positions. He emphasized that the outcome of the congress was a clear mandate for the party to consolidate its hold on Oyo politics.

At the congress, Hon. Dayo Ogungbenro was re-elected as State Chairman, with Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke emerging as Deputy Chairman. Other elected officials include Oyelami Oyeyemi as State Secretary, Olawumi Elizabeth Toyin as Women Leader, and Bello Kazeem Olalekan as Youth Leader. Out of 4,050 accredited delegates, 4,031 votes were cast, with overwhelming victories recorded by all winners.

According to Nivo News, the congress was described as seamless and well-coordinated, with party leaders and stakeholders hailing Makinde’s leadership for fostering unity within the PDP. Senator Austin Akobundu, Chairman of the State PDP Congress Electoral Panel, commended the governor for the unprecedented growth of the party under his stewardship, citing recent electoral successes as proof of the PDP’s rising influence.

Other party leaders, including Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, Senator Monsurat Sunmonu, and Senator Gbenga Babalola, lauded the peaceful exercise, stressing that the PDP in Oyo remains one of the strongest chapters nationwide. They praised Makinde’s stabilizing role and prayed for greater unity ahead of 2027.

In his acceptance speech, Ogungbenro pledged total commitment to ensuring the PDP’s victory in the next general elections, while former Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido, congratulated the newly elected executive members and urged them to remain steadfast.

The event was monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and attended by top government functionaries, National and State Assembly members, party stakeholders, and delegates from all 33 local government areas of Oyo State.

NNPP Rejects Atiku, Says “We Don’t Want To Be Part Of ADC”.

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has dismissed claims by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar that it is part of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a statement on Thursday, NNPP National Secretary Ogini Olaposi said the party is not affiliated with the ADC and has no plans to join or merge with the coalition.

He clarified that the involvement of former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso and members of the Kwankwasiya Movement in ADC activities does not represent the NNPP as a political party.

Olaposi also claimed that only a minority of Kwankwasiya supporters followed Kwankwaso, insisting that many of them have since joined the APC.
