FG Credits Nigerians’ Endurance for Nation’s Economic Resurgence.
Abuja — The Federal Government has stated that the sacrifices being made by Nigerians today are laying the groundwork for economic renewal, stronger institutions, and improved living standards across all sectors.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, emphasized that the progress being achieved is a result of the bold reforms introduced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, aimed at delivering lasting transformation rather than temporary relief.
Senator Akume spoke at an inter-denominational church service at the National Ecumenical Christian Centre in Abuja yesterday, part of the activities marking Nigeria’s 65th Independence anniversary. Senate President Godswill Akpabio represented President Tinubu at the service, which drew top government officials, diplomatic representatives, religious leaders, and other distinguished guests. The event was characterized by prayers, thanksgiving, and renewed appeals for unity and shared responsibility in nation-building.
In his address, the SGF highlighted that governance is not solely the responsibility of leaders but a collective effort between government and citizens. He called on Nigerians to support the administration’s reforms with patience and constructive engagement, noting that the country’s resilience has historically exceeded its challenges.
“Under President Tinubu’s leadership, our nation is undergoing bold reforms focused on long-term transformation. The sacrifices being made by Nigerians are paving the way for economic renewal, stronger institutions, and improvements in food, energy, healthcare, education, employment, and infrastructure,” he said.
Bishop Francis Wale Oke, Founder and Presiding Bishop of Sword of the Spirit Ministries, delivered the sermon, stressing that Nigeria could become a global force if citizens unite across regions and work collaboratively with their leaders. He praised the theme of the service, The Power of Unity in Building a Great Nation, describing it as timely and prophetic.
Citing biblical references, Bishop Oke noted that unity among the nation’s people is divinely endorsed, saying, “If we as a nation, from the East, West, North, and South, recognize ourselves as brothers and sisters and unite, there is nothing we cannot achieve.”
The service was attended by a cross-section of leaders, including the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, represented by Mrs. Kikelomo Adeniyi; the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun; the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Esther Walson-Jack; the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa; the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Kayode Egbetokun; and other senior government officials, ambassadors, and high commissioners from various countries.
The inter-denominational church service formed part of the events celebrating Nigeria’s 65th Independence anniversary, themed Nigeria @ 65: All Hands on Deck for a Greater Nation.
