Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested an Indian businessman, Gupta Ravi Kumar, along with three Nigerian accomplices following the seizure of 2,248,000 tramadol pills (200mg/225mg) at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
NDLEA disclosed in a statement that the shipment, valued at approximately ₦3.9 billion, was disguised as multivitamins in 114 cartons, imported from Delhi, India, and arrived on September 8 via an Ethiopian Airlines flight. Surveillance operations led to the interception of a clearing agent and two drivers attempting to transport the consignment on September 11, culminating in the arrest of Kumar the following day while collecting the shipment.
In a separate airport operation on September 7, NDLEA intercepted Onyeganochi Stanley Ifeanyi, who was carrying 900 grams of skunk concealed in crayfish en route to Doha. Investigation led to the arrest of Ohadiegwu Anthony Uchenna, who planned to retrieve the shipment later.
At Tincan Port, Lagos, NDLEA recovered 81.7 kg of Canadian Loud cannabis and 1.2 kg of hashish oil from vehicle shipments from Canada, arresting two suspects, John Ochigbo and Okeke Kingsley. Another 65 kg of the same drug was seized on Third Mainland Bridge from a Toyota Sienna, with driver Abubakar Ibrahim arrested.
Two additional methamphetamine and cannabis seizures were made from courier shipments destined for Gabon and the UAE. NDLEA also raided a factory producing skuchies—a cannabis and blackcurrant drink blend—in Ikorodu, Lagos, seizing 6,029 bottles of the substance and 4,232 kg of cannabis, arresting manager Joy Awosika and associate Akeem Oriola.
Further operations across Abuja, Oyo, Kano, Anambra, Yobe, Ogun, and Edo states led to multiple arrests and seizures of methamphetamine, skunk, tramadol, heroin, and other new psychoactive substances, including the destruction of over 16,966 kg of cannabis in Edo State.
NDLEA continues to intensify its operations against drug trafficking nationwide, targeting importers, distributors, and local producers of illegal substances.
