In a video shared on Instagram, the comedian stated that the outcome could have triggered deeper racial tensions in the United States if the suspect had been Black. “I can’t put into words how relieved I was when I found out the suspect wasn’t Black. It would have been worse,” he said.
The case has drawn global attention after authorities identified the suspect as 22-year-old Tyler Robinson from Utah. Reports indicate that Robinson, though officially a nonpartisan voter, was raised in a Republican, pro-gun household and had shown increasing political interest in recent years. He was said to have openly criticized Kirk during family conversations, accusing him of fueling division.
Robinson, who scored 34 in his ACT, briefly attended Utah State University on a scholarship in 2021 but dropped out after one semester.
In a separate development, American rapper Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., popularly known as DDG, has revealed plans to relocate from Los Angeles to Lagos, Nigeria.
